MTV Sets Premiere Dates for Awkward's (Probably) Final Season and Faking It Season 3

If Teen Wolf and The Shannara Chronicles aren't doing it for you, we've got good news! Once the teens of Beacon Hills and the Four Lands wrap up their current seasons on MTV, you'll be graced with, well, more teens. On Friday, the network announced premiere dates for Season 5B of Awkward and the third season of one of the best shows you're not watching, the high school comedy Faking It. So grab your gel pens and jot the following down in your Trapper Keeper...

Jenna and Matty and the rest of the Awkward crew will return for Season 5B on Tuesday, March 15 at 10pm. MTV did not refer to this run of episodes as being the final season, but we're not going to hold our breath for that last-minute renewal because we're cynical and jaded old folks. When the show returns, it will be the beginning of summer, but a full year will have passed since the Season 5A finale. Jenna will be partaking in a summer fellowship at an internet startup, but reconnecting with her high school friends makes it pretty clear that things have changed and there was a lot that she missed.

The Season 3 premiere of Faking It will follow Awkward at 10:30pm. According to MTV, the new season will center around friendship and "how complicated and fragile it can be," which has basically been one of the show's main themes since the beginning. Following their summer apart, Karma and Amy will struggle to put their friendship back on track after Karma couldn't tell Amy their kiss meant something more. Meanwhile, Shane will find himself caught between his friends, Liam will wonder if he's even capable of having friends, and Lauren will struggle with the idea that friends may not be worth the pain and effort they bring her.

Do you hope this won't be the last season for Awkward? Are you ready to get back to Hester High?

Faking It is a gem of a show.. so looking forward to S3.

Awkward... Hey it gets a lot of flake and has gone past its used by date.. But I'm still looking forward to what's probably the final season.
As to the " I hate Jena brigade " I've always loved Jenna.... and the rest of the Awkward gang.

Oh & I haven't seen Faking It. It looks good, but so did that show: Finding Carter or whatever. I mostly just stick to the supernatural stuff anyway.

Faking It is much, much better than Finding Carter.

I'm not that bothered by Awkward's impending end. Jenna was really getting on my nerves there for a while. And I think that it's time for these shows to end. I honestly no longer even care if she winds up w/Matty McKibbin or not. I just don't think they're really long-term material. But that could just be me. I'm sort of an anti-romantic.

I don't want them to do a 90210 and keep them around forever. Even though I loved 90210 back in the day, the original, not the remake. Yes, I'm dating myself. I have way more in common w/the mom on Awkward than I do w/the teen, but well, being childfree keeps me forever young I suppose. Except there'd have been no story b/c I wouldn't have kept it...

Another stupid thing about shows like this? Sitcoms such as Awkward want us to believe that every teenager in America has a life like this. Friends, a fun parent, and does whatever it takes to be popular.

Here's how Awkward should end. Jenna gets pregnant and becomes a homeless drug addict. Will never forgive this show for dominating the ratings back in the summer of 2012. Awkward and Louie are both on my $#!t list. There were better shows that were on during that time that were getting unfairly bashed and ignored......

Awkward's probable final season? i thought it was announced a while ago (even before season 4 was over) that it was it's final season?

It was called the final season when it was renewed, but the creators hoped for another season, and MTV didn't refer to it as the final season in the press release. Hence the hesitation.

It's OK show but not great. It has its moments so best to let it finish now rather than drag it on.

Just remove whole "bullying is cool and bullies are awesome" message.

I actually watched a few episodes of that show and was kinda enjoying it until I accidentally saw some spoilers that ruined the whole show for me
