MTV takes on Cartoon Network

MTV Networks announced today that it will be airing a new block of adult animated cartoons on MTV2. The animation block, beginning Friday, June 9, will feature the returning Celebrity Deathmatch and new offerings, Chico and Guapo and Where My Dogs At

Where My Dogs At? is created by comedian Jeffrey Ross and stars the voices of Ross and ex-SNL'er Tracy Morgan. The two portray stray dogs who experience hijinks and adventures on the streets of Los Angeles.

Chico and Guapo revolves around two janitors who work at a recording studio and meet up with wacky pop stars and music industry types. The show is cocreated by Orlando Jones and is a recurring segment on the actor's nightly show on FX.

Celebrity Deathmatch is a claymation show that pits various celebrities against each other in a wrestling ring.

MTV2 already runs the popular comedy series Wonder Showzen and The Andy Milonakis Show. With this new block of animation, it appears the network is attempting to lure some of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim demographic, the coveted males 18-34.

Hey, MTV2! Keep both Celebrity Deathmatch and Beavis & Butthead on your schedules, but PLEASE get rid of The Andy Milonakis Show before it's too late.

As long as they have standard advertisements and Wonder Showzen I will be part of the coveted 18-34 demographic watching MTV.

I can not STAND those stupid Cartoon Network ads which are fake messages from Cartoon Network viewers...hate it!

Like this sad lineup will tear me away from Adult Swim.

That's kind of sad on Mtv's part. Just because they've become socially unnecessary, like Britney Spears & carb-free chips, and Adult Swim is becoming a ratings juggernaut doesn't mean they need to add animation back onto the schedule. (Although, I will watch Chico & Guapo-I have personal stock in that one) The real point is that Mtv was cool at one point, now they're boring...that's it.

What's funny is that MTV used to have some real great animated programs (other than Beavis and Butthead, of course) including The Maxx and The Head. Why not bring those shows back?

Yeah, MTV should just go back to airing videos.
