Napoleon Dynamite Grows Up

Gosh! Jon Heder has a new show!

Here's some dynamite news for Jon Heder fans: The actor best known as Napoleon Dynamite will star in his own sitcom on Comedy Central. The show will be co-produced by Will Ferrell, Heder's co-star in the funniest (and possibly only) ice-skating spoof ever produced, Blades of Glory.

Comedy Central confirmed the story first reported today by the Hollywood Reporter.

Ten episodes have been ordered for the show, which doesn't have a title yet. Heder will star as "an out-of-work computer IT specialist who leaves the big city and returns to his small home town, where he moves back in with his parents and younger brother," according to Comedy Central.

The show is from Ferrell's production company, Gary Sanchez Productions. Besides Ferrell, the producers and writers on the new show are Ferrell's pals Adam McKay (director of Anchorman and Talladega Nights, as well as Ferrell's co-star in The Landlord, the notorious comedy short they made for their comedy Web site, funnyordie.com) and Chris Henchy, a former co-executive producer of Entourage who also happens to be married to Brooke Shields.

Heder gained fame in the role of slack-jawed Napoleon Dynamite in the 2004 hit film. He was so unforgettable in the oft-quoted role that it was feared initially that he would never be accepted by the public as anyone except Napoleon. He then broadened his comedic range as guest-host of Saturday Night Live in October 2005. And when he turned up as skating phenom Jimmy McElroy in Blades of Glory, it was clear there was a lot more to this guy than a geeky high-school kid.

While there's no word yet on when this new sitcom will premiere on Comedy Central, Heder's fans undoubtedly hope it will be as soon as possible.
