NBC Cancels Some Show Called Do No Harm

Made in Jersey, make room for Do No Harm! NBC canceled the Jekyll-and-Hyde medical drama today, just hours after last night's final ratings were released and NBC saw a stain where its 10pm primetime series should have been. The show has been pulled from the schedule (i.e. canceled) after just two episodes, matching Made in Jersey for the shortest stay of the season.

But that doesn't even begin to illustrate just how poorly Do No Harm performed. When it debuted last Thursday, it became the lowest in-season debut for a scripted show on a major network EVER, with a 0.9 rating in the adult demo. Last night's dip down to a 0.7 rating was all NBC had to see before finally making a good business decision for once.

Do No Harm starred Steven Pasquale as a neurosurgeon with an evil alter-ego who took control of his body every night starting at 8:25pm and holding on for 12 hours. It also featured a Golden Retriever, a blow-up sex doll, and a Ferrari IN THE SAME SCENE, but you probably didn't know that because no one watched this show except for me. I'll miss you, Do No Harm. You made me laugh.

NBC will air Law & Order: SVU reruns in Do No Harm's place.

Boy this is biased or what? Why is there no YES button for the question "Did You Watch Do No Harm?" above? I would bet you if you registered the YES votes, there would be a lot more of them than NO votes.

I don't know who's making decisions at NBC but it's evident to me that some idiot thinks reruns of old shows will get better ratings than this show. I think Do No Harm is an excellent show and it's fascinating to see what could develop with it ... why not give it a chance?

Shame shame shame for cancelling this show. I'm really enjoying it and I'm really glad there's 12 episodes to this first season. Keep it going ... move it to another network! Forget NBC if they have absolutely no imagination!

Fact is, they didn't hype it as much. And NBC is stupid to think people will wait to watch a brand new unhyped show at 10pm. Now they realize people actually like the show but they stupidly cancelled it after 2-3 episodes. I want another network to take this. That title by the editor is as stupid as the fat guy booing Punk

This was a great show! I watched the pilot and episodes 1 & 2 - I loved all of them. NBC is currently airing the remainder of season one which I'm enjoying very much - the acting and the satire are great! Please NBC, bring this show back. . .the ratings must be better now that you are airing the remaining episodes from season one! Please give it another chance for a season two. . .

Come on, NBC!!! Bring this show back!! You finally got a great series under your belt, and hen you cancel it? Seems like a lot of people like the show, too. There are so many shows out there now that don't deserve our attention, reality shows being one type, which is inundating our tv screens. Please, please, please!!! I would love to see this show come back this Fall (2013)!!

I can't believe it is cancelled only after two episodes. I really liked Do No Harm...it should have been scheduled in a different time slot. It was airing on the same day and time as ABC's Scandal which is doing really well.

You gotta admit Do No Harm was award-winning material compared to Made in Jersey.

Oh, I liked that show! Although I must admit, I was wondering where it went and couldn't remember the name to look it up on the schedule. I Googled 8:25PM TV and found this article. Oh well! At least I didn't miss an episode. This reminded me of Awake, which also got cancelled (at the end of 1st season,) but Awake was better. I was kind of frustrated w Dr's relationship with the woman he liked and was wondering where that'd go.

I liked this show, particularly the Dr J Cole (Dr Jekyll) joke. I thought it had potential and certainly needed a few more episodes to establish itself. I'm very disappointed with this news :-(

For the record, I didn't see either episode os it, so I can't speak of the quality... But when I saw the previews for the show, it seemed utterly ridiculous to me. The concept I mean. Maybe I don't know enough about such mental disorders.... but waking up every night at 8:25 pm to an alter ego taking over seemed rather far fetched. I know, I know... half of all TV shows are far fetched. Some for some reason the premise sounded silly...

HILARIOUS! I didn't even make it through the pilot. It was just too awful! I liked the BBC's "Jekyll". Yeah, it was over the top but WAY more entertaining!

All American networks are run by brainless, spineless, greedy suits. How can ypou kill a new show after 2 episodes????? How is a show today EVER gonna have enough time to find an audience. Kill the suits! Get people in there who really KNOW ABOUT HOW TO MAKE GOOD TV!!!

They make money from advertisements. If they can get higher ratings from airing a rerun than airing another episode with dismal ratings, you won't ever see that show again. The way they see it, they're not going to get their money back by airing the episodes they paid for.

I watched it. It reminded me of My Own Worst Enemy, which was also cancelled of course. Bah.

I loved this show and was anxious to see how it panned out. NBC was stupid for putting it on Thursday. It didn't have a chance there. I'll miss it.

Of course it is I liked it. I guess I'm going back to waiting until a show runs it's entire course, and then having a marathon viewing. But at least I don't have to spend 5 minutes every Thursday reorganizing what will record live vs. re-showing.

has greys anatomy ruined all future medical series. I know just based on it being a medical I wasn't even looking at it. Same for Emily Owens, Monday mornings. Do No Harm was definitely not another greys but I just wasn't interested. I've said it before and I'll say it again Greys Anatomy should have finished. I could rave for ages about things like this CSI how many years now? and what are the rating like I stopped watching that about 6-7 years ago. Law and order how many spin offs? When shows like Awake GCB, The Finder (WTF) various others I can't think of right now get canned!

I liked Do No Harm better than Monday Mornings. Like you, I'm tired of all these old shows and like to give new shows a try.

Greys Anatomy murders its cast as a plot device. It should have ended 4 seasons ago. The problem with Monday mornings is it takes the cruelest and most depressing parts of the profession and glorifies it. And the actors are more phony than a $3 bill. Greys like ER has nothing left to say. The CSI effect is dead. As for Do no Harm I didn't see the plot device lasting longer than 5 episodes. It felt contrived

The entire medical procedural aspect of it was a waste of time. The fact that he was a doctor was fine, it serves as an effective backdrop for the show, but it was quite uninteresting. When it starts to take over episodes, no one cares. Ian and Jason's relationship was the best part of the show, and they didn't spend nearly enough time on it.

Ouch, LA is plastered with that stupid ad for it too, saw it on a billboard and the side of a bus not minutes after reading this article yesterday. Dropping to a 0.7 rating is brutal, NBC needs to sweep its executive staff out the door for letting it get so bad.

And obviously I voted "no", awesome poll, Tim.

As one of the few people who actually did watch this show. You would think that a doctor would have been smarter about handling his problem than this guy. Whoever wrote this show had never seen Jekyll, BBC. Dr. Jekyll knew how to control his alter ego and was an excellent show.

well nbc did another show like this called "my own worst enemy" starring Christian slater...I didn't even know do no harm was showing...that's why I need to get a tv guide...I wish nbc brought back Knight Rider...love that show

The pilot had the worst ratings EVER, the 2nd episode had even worse ratings. Cancelling it was a mercy killing for both the show and NBC.

That's a shame. They should've given this show a chance. Sure it was silly, but it was entertaining as well. This is what the second show that's cancelled for the lead actor Steven Pasquale - the other one was called 'over under' i think. i feel bad for the guy, and i feel horrible that we won't get to see atleast one season - i mean c'mon you can't judge a show with just two episodes - it cud've made a name for itself - given the chance. There are ppl of all types out there and not everyone likes the same thing. They should've waited for the audience to give in their views!

No show should be cancelled after only two episodes, that's almost disgusting. The cast was good and if they aired it is because the network exec so something, now give us time to see if can see what they saw.

I watched it because of the review on this site and I wanted to keep watching it. Not because I thought it was hilarious but because I got curious about the reason he developed the split personality (abuse as a child I guess) and if he would manage to merge the two. Now we'll never know.

I agree with what couple of other mentioned below: good, or bad, (and it's not like that NBC has a huge variety of very highly rated great shows) they should have at leased aired 2 more episodes..
