... The Hollywood reboot machine continues to churn, and its latest monster might be the most ridiculous one yet. David E. Kelley, creator of legal shows like Ally McBeal and The Practice, is behind the remake, and please do yourself a favor and listen to this summary: "The project is described as a reinvention of the iconic D.C. comic in which Wonder Woman—aka Diana Prince—is a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life." Let's just hope the corporation she works for produces invisible jets. The show was shopped around to the networks not too long ago, and was promptly rejected by all of them, even NBC. Apparently NBC changed its mind. [Deadline Hollywood]
... Fitness enthusiast Jack Lalanne has passed away at the age of 96. LaLanne created and starred in The Jack LaLanne Show in the '50s and '60s, and was instrumental in introducing personal fitness to America. He can still kick your ass. [NY Times]
... Controversial news man Keith Olbermann has called it quits on MSNBC, leaving his post as host of Countdown last Friday. The move was sudden, but he frequently butted heads with the show's producers, most recently in November when he was suspended after making political donations to Democratic candidates. [LA Times]
... Oprah's big secret was revealed today: She has a sister! Well, a half sister. Congratulations, Oprah. But even greater congratulations to her half-sister, who should milk this for every penny she can. [TMZ]
... The Closer without Kyra Sedgwick? It could happen. TNT is looking to extend the show's final season with Sedgwick, or possibly to create a spin-off of the series without her. Reports say TNT might either try to lengthen the final season (which starts later this year) from 15 episodes to 21 episodes, or look for a new way to make a spin-off work. [Deadline Hollywood]
... Jeffrey Dean Morgan, also known as Papa Winchester from Supernatural, The Comedian from The Watchmen, and that ghost dude from Grey's Anatomy, is close to signing on to star in Starz's upcoming drama Magic City. Morgan would play the owner of a hotel that's home to powerful people during the late 1950s in Miami, just as Fidel Castro takes power in Cuba. [Deadline Hollywood]
... Dan Savage, author of the sex-advice Savage Love column featured in many city periodicals, has filmed a pilot for MTV. The show will follow the simple question-and-answer format, with Savage letting college students know exactly how many foreign objects can fit in the human anus and other orifices at any given time. [EW]
... Fox has ordered a pilot for Exit Strategy, a drama starring Ethan Hawke and directed by Antoine Fuqua. The action procedural follows a CIA team that specializes in extracting agents from operations that've gone wrong. [Deadline Hollywood]

When I saw "silly" I was expecting the invisible jet. Now I'm not sure what exactly makes it silly to the writer - the presence of David E. Kelley or the *absence* of an invisible jet. There's some strong bias behind the writing, I'm just not sure why it's there.
I was really wanting to watch a remake of wonder woman would love to see the first ones made
cast an Euroasian to be the new Wonder Woman. :D
**David E. Kelley + Wonder Woman remake= disaster (nuff said). **Saddened to hear about Jack Lalanne, he probably could still kick my ass. **Like Jeffery Dean Morgan as well. ** "Exit Strategy" looks interesting, then again I'm a sucker for the spy genre of TV shows (most of them anyways...)
im not against this but im not for this wonderwoman thing.this aint my type of show but how will this work if the wonderwoman movie that joss whedon wrote starring kate beckisale is coming out later this yeasr.i keep thinking a movie and a show at the same time gone be problems..
Katie McGrath, the British actress playing Lady Morgana in the show Merlin from the BBC, which will be in its fourth season would be a great cast as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. In many scenes of the Merlin show, she shows an incredible likeness to Lynda Carter.
It's not a silly reboot, you've not seen the product. When the product is shown, judge it then. In the meantime, this article is under "NEWS BRIEF" and it would be nice if it was actually news we read and not biased opinion from the writers. Now as for us, the subscribers to this website, fine, any of you thinking it is silly, that is your opinion, voice it, we can agree to disagree. I won't force you to see things my way. But, I would expect someone who delivers the news to us, to deliver this news without judgement, just facts. THE FACTS are, we don't know if this will be great or bad. It's based on a superhero comic character, it's fictional. Just like Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, etc. That would make it silly on its own. But some of these franchises are quite popular nevertheless. All I'm saying is, Kelley's made some nice products, he may yet create a nice show, or not, but, the responsibility of the one who wrote this article, would be to keep his opinions to himself and just deliver the news. The rest of us, we can believe in what we want, I for one, will wait to see the show and then decide for myself, if it's silly or not. Even a silly show can be entertaining ironically, I mean, isn't that what all SITCOMS are?moreless
In the Wonder Woman movie, she does become a regular woman as she lives with Steve in the US. The plot isn't all that different from the comics/cartoons at all. I just want them to create a faithful adaptation. Diana has some of the most powerful abilities and along w/ her enchanted weapons she is nearly unstoppable. I want to see that reflected in the TV show.
Dear David E. Kelley, if you intend to go down this route, please cast Sarah Lancaster as Wonder Woman. http://www.tv.com/sarah-lancaster/person/7618/summary.html?tag=content_wrap;cast_crew_list
RIP Lalane!
More proof studio exec's are clueless and out of touch with anything their audience wants to watch. Ally McWonder Woman... i mean really?!? what were they smoking?
What a stupid premise for Wonder Woman! David E. Kelley could have done a great job if he kept her as an ambassador. His early seasons of The Practice were great. I am not looking forward to "Ally McWonder Woman."
@houbou: anybody with the ability to READ can see how silly this reboot sound, especially since the original series was SILLY AS ALL HELL? So the real question here is: WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? TOO DUMB TO READ PROPERLY???
They could totally build a spinoff around Mary McDonnell's Capt. Sharon Raydor character. I'd watch her sorting her mail. :)
Does NBC pick up shows now just for the sake of cancelling them?? lol.. I mean I like David E. Kelley as much as the next guy, but I cant think of a more terrible idea than a Wonder Woman remake.. What were they thinking..
Lynda Carter was beautiful to look at as Wonder Woman , but that's it. The show was boring as hell. I can't imagine the remake will be any better especially with today's horrible actresses/writers.
In all this noise how about a moment of silence for the loss of a great human being Jack Lalanne? Grew up watching him as a child, wish I had stuck with it. Can't believe he didn't live to 100+. FYI, he also invented the weight machines you see in most gyms but he purposely didn't patent them. There was a man who lived a rich life and I can honestly say, though he was 96, he still died too young.
wonderwoman...yea not a good idea at all.
Mr. Surette, how do you know it's a silly redo? Have you seen it? Don't you think you should reserve judgement until you've sample the product so to speak. I guess TV.COM has a hard time finding good writing staff, so you got the job. If I was the editor, you would be fired. I don't know how good or bad Wonder Woman's remake will be. All I know is David E. Kelley is involved in the project as in charge of the reboot. Given he's actually penned a few very successful shows. (Oh. Mr. Surette, have YOU ever scripted a successful show by the way? Probably not, but prove us the contrary.)So, I will reserve judgement of this reboot when I see it. Mr. Surette, an opinion is not news. And furthermore, if you really want to seem as having an "intelligent" opinion, at least, try to be more substantive, have something to work with. At the moment, all YOU know and WE know is that there will be a reboot, and that Kelley has set a premise for the reboot.moreless
I probably wouldn't watch The Closer without Kyra but I might watch a spin-off. I would love if they made the final season longer.
I'd watch The Closer without Kyra, especially if it featured a lot more Provenza who is great fun as a character :)
It's unfair to be hard on Wonder Woman at this point. You're judging it by the original series. Handled properly it could be more like Smallville. At this point there's just no way to know how it will be.
Oh-no. Exclamation mark. Why, oh why do you have to take a piss on Wonder Woman?
The Wonder Woman show is probably going to be super cheesy. Especially with NBC handling it.
Let me guess...JDM dies in the first season, right?
Agreed with Kevin G87! LOL. The articles on TV.com are starting to bore the crap out of me! Keep your readers interested!
wow. not even one thing in this article was remotely interesting
