So you think you can dance with the stars? That's the question (and inspirations) that have helped green-light the new show Superstar Dancers of the World over at NBC, says Variety. The previously dance-less network joins ABC's Dancing With the Stars and Fox's So You Think You Can Dance in the now-crowded booty-shaking genre.
The show comes from the vast creative well of the minds of Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe (American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance), who have stretched the talent-show idea far enough to earn themselves more money than you and your extended family will ever make ever. But this reality dancing-competition will be different--well, if you consider making it an international competition "different."
Superstar Dancers of the World will feature--get this--superstar dancers from all over the world! Eight dance pros (no word on whether it's individual or team-based) from the US, Argentina, Ireland, India, South Africa, Australia, China, and Russia will try to out-jitterbug one another when the show airs sometime in the midseason.
Congratulations, NBC, way to get on board this boat that sailed away a loooooong time ago.

Lol, it is so funny to hear all the dumb and short sighted complaints about too many dance shows... is the same said for cop shows? Or highschool shows? Or medical dramas... sheesh, tv is a big world. And NBC fails with My Own Worst Enemy, Heroes is not doing so hot, Lipstick Jungle looks to be out, Friday Night Lights and Chuck are both basically failing... just saying, rather than blaming the networks, why not blame the viewers for choosing to watch "garbage" shows? If all these scripted shows were such gems, why is there such a high fail rate while the "dumb" reality shows are suceeding?
Not another dancing show! We already have enough.
Why must networks continue to pollute the airwaves with this JUNK!!!!!! Enough already!!!!!!!
Eh, I don't know. I'm pretty stuck on So You Think You Can Dance but can't really get into Dancing with the Stars so it can be hit or miss with me.
I wonder which argentinian "superstar" will they bring. Our version it's call "bailando por un sueño" and it's basically a strip club on tv. Models and "actresses" dance with almost no clothes and insult each other and the jury. It's trully decadent.
More cr*p on t.v.
Here's one dancing show I won't be watching on NBC.
Do we really need yet another dancing reality show?
Also @ some comments below. The sad truth is the reality shows are successful and easy to make. I think the time could be better given to a Drama or new comedy but unfortunatley this will most likely be a hit and NBC can see that.
I think NBC is about to have a hit. Provided they give it a good timeslot.
Only dance show I really like is America's best Dance crew but that's primarily because of the Jabbawockeez
I like dance shows. Maybe they thought it was time professional dancers danced with other professional dancers.
This is ridiculous.....
This is ridiculous. I admit I loved SYTYCD, but that's it. Dancing with the Stars, IMO, is stupid and this is just another attempt to cash in on the unbelievable cash cow that, unfortunately reality TV has become.
How, not every network has to have a dancing show. It seems to me that one is enough, especially if a quality pilot isn't picked up because a new reality show is coming!
Please tell me they're not canceling shows to make space for more reality TV
Wow, that was an awfully jaded view. Jealous much?
