Apparently, NBC has a serious case of champagne wishes and caviar dreams.
The network is thinking about reviving the '80s and '90s unscripted series Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, and Nick Cannon is signed on to host, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The original series premiered in 1984 and ran for 11 years in syndication. It was hosted by Robin Leach, who famously ended each episode by wishing his viewers "champagne wishes and caviar dreams."
NBC plans to shoot a pilot for an updated version of the series that will reportedly focus on Cannon's point of view and highlight the philanthropic efforts of the ultra-wealthy individuals he profiles, in addition to their favorite hot spots and extravagant toys.
Cannon was originally attached to a revival of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous that was set up in July 2013 for the Style network, a former sister cable network of NBC. Style was rebranded as the Esquire network two months after Cannon came aboard, and the project never moved forward.
Cannon also hosts NBC's summer reality competition series America's Got Talent.
Would you watch a modern edition of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous? Would Cannon make a good host?
Super Sweet 16 was popular because it played to rich stereotypes. People watched to hate them.
Please save the little dignity you have left, NBC.You are already a joke, and a bad one at that.People watch you and laugh at you, quagmired network. In all the Great Universities who enslave our future in debt for decades to come, TV and Movie courses use you as the epitome of ridicule and young people in college parties are induced to puke when they hear anything related.Stop.Slowly. Take a step back from the ledge. Very slowly, step back.Do not jump to your perdition.
