It's network chicken, and the peacock is flinching.
Last week, NBC announced with much fanfare the Thursday night time slot for Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip, the new drama from West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin. Then, ABC one-upped them by moving red-hot medical drama Grey's Anatomy to the same night opposite the new show.
Now, NBC indicates that it may move Studio 60 to another night. According to Broadcasting & Cable, NBC president Kevin Reilly, the show will likely move to Mondays at 9:00 p.m. or 10:00 p.m.
"We can't let it telescope too far from here," Reilly told the magazine. "We have some marketing decisions to make soon."
Grey's was a breakout hit this season, even besting ratings of its popular Sunday night lead-in, Desperate Housewives. ABC hopes to seed Thursday with the medical drama in order to build another solid night.
Studio 60 is one of two shows satirizing a Saturday Night Live-type sketch show that NBC has on tap for next season--the other is 30 Rock, a half-hour sitcom from SNL writer Tina Fey.
