This week NBC president Jeff Zucker did some damage control while presenting the new fall schedule to advertisers in New York. "Let's be entirely candid," Zucker said. "We were not what we wanted to be and not what we expected to be."
NBC has placed confidence in a new sitcom, My Name Is Earl, starring Jason Lee. Returning sitcoms Joey and Will & Grace will stay put as part of NBC’'s Thursday- night comedy block.
Zucker emphasized the network's strength with upper-income viewers. NBC is trying to stave off losses on advertising dollars as Fox erodes NBC's hold on the demographic of adults aged 18 to 49. "Get out of the gate at 8, add shows that rate, and stay strong late," Zucker said.
