NBC scales back Singles order

NBC is looking to cut the order of the midseason comedy series The Singles Table, sources said.

The show, originally picked up for 13 episodes, has now been asked to produce only six half-hours. Five episodes, including the pilot, already have been completed.

Singles revolved around five strangers who bond after sitting together at the singles table at a mutual friend's wedding. The cast includes John Cho, Jarrad Paul, and late addition Alicia Silverstone.

Having previously mismanaged Miss Match, I can't help but think NBC is bad luck for Ms. Silverstone!

Same here I've seen the pilot prior to adding Silverstone and I liked it alot. And I think Silverstone can only help the show. But I think this is a response to the flailing single camera comedies that are currently on. They thought 30 Rock was a sure fire hit, plus Earl and Office are hurting against the competition. They're hedging they're bets. Nonetheless I think they'd be foolish to totally undersell this show it has some great potential.

NBC actions don't make sense to me. By telling everyone that they have ordered only 6 episodes of "Singles Table" is like warning the audience in advance not to bother to get very interested in the show because it won't be on long.
