NBC Sets Summer Premiere Dates for Welcome to Sweden, Craig Robinson's New Comedy, and More

Amy Poehler and Greg Poehler in Welcome to Sweden

It's nearly April, which means it's almost summer (just trust me and go with it). And to get you into the right mindset for the coming warmer months, NBC has announced a number of summer premiere dates for the returns of several reality shows, the debuts of two new comedies, and more.

Let's get the reality shows out of the way first. Bear Grylls' newest survival series The Island and a new Marlon Wayans-hosted variety show called I Can Do That will premiere Monday, May 25 at 10pm and Tuesday, May 26 at 10pm, respectively. The competition series Food Fighters returns Thursday, July 2 at 8pm. New episodes of Hollywood Game Night, hosted by Jane Lynch, will launch Tuesday, July 7 at 10pm. The second season of Running Wild With Bear Grylls premieres on Monday, July 13 at 9pm. And finally, a new season of Last Comic Standing premieres Wednesday, July 22 at 9pm before moving to its regular 10pm timeslot the following week.

Joining the previously scheduled Hannibal and Aquarius on the scripted side of the spectrum, Welcome to Sweden will kick off its sophomore season with back-to-back new episodes on Sunday, July 19 at 8pm. Two new comedies starring The Office alum Craig Robinson and stand-up comedian Jerrod Carmichael will then round out the summer with August debuts. Mr. Robinson follows the lead singer and keyboardist of a funk band who becomes a substitute high school music teacher; the show will premiere on Wednesday, August 5 at 8pm, and The Carmichael Show, which was inspired by Carmichael's own relationships with his family and girlfriend, will follow at 8:30pm.

Now, here's all of that in a easy-to-read schedule:

Monday, May 25

10pm: The Island

Thursday, May 28

8–10pm: Aquarius

Tuesday, May 26

10pm: I Can Do That

Thursday, June 4

Wednesday, July 20

I presume the 2nd date for 'Last Comic Standing' is July 29th, not July 20th. Hopefully there will be some new talent worth following. I did like a couple of the comics from last year.

Wow, that is a cringeworthy set of offerings. Hopefully Craig Robinson will have a bright spot in it, but I can see going months without turning to NBC right now.

And that's okay. We all feel & are different. What makes the world such an interesting place. The world doesn't have a remote but thankfully the TV does so all I have to do is switch channel & my problem's solved.

Don't care about the comedies and reality shows. Only here for Hannibal (can't wait!) and I will give Aquarius a try. Sounds a bit like Zodiac (the movie) and for me that's a good thing.
