Lipstick Jungle's fashion-conscious Wendy Healy may have nothing in common with beer-swigging Tim Riggins of Friday Night Lights, but that may change pretty soon. One NBC executive is looking to keep Lipstick Jungle on the air in much the same way it held onto Friday Night Lights.
Fans of NBC's Sex and the City clone have been biting their manicured nails while the network decides the drama's fate. Is it dead? Is it coming back? Common sense says the show is done for good, but star Brooke Shields has been insistent to keep hope aliveā¦and she may be right.
"Lipstick Jungle is so strong and has such a passionate base among a coveted demographic," Silverman said, according to Broadcasting & Cable. "That kind of show will have the same approach, and we've already begun that approach, as we've used with Friday Night Lights. We have some incredible channels in our portfolio and we have sister networks that love the show as well. We are analyzing what we need to do to keep that show on the air."
Wait, so this is all about money?
What Mr. Silverman is referring to is the unusual deal to share production costs of Friday Night Lights with a partner, in this case DirecTV, with the partner getting first run on a new season. The satellite operator has already burned through season three of the football drama, and NBC is now rebroadcasting the season.
But will anyone bite? Friday Night Lights' second episode on NBC fared much worse than its first, so if that trend continues it probably won't make sense to try the experiment out again.
It's looking like a long shot for Lipstick Jungle to return, but then again Friday Night Lights was a Hail Mary of epic proportions.

PLLLLLEEEEAAAASSSSEEEE Bring Lipstick Jungle back. I don't care if it's on Bravo - just bring it back!!! I cannot survive another of my favorite shows being cancelled this year (RIP-Dirty Sexy Money). After the writers strike last year, it just isn't fair to cancel any show last year or this year. GIVE TV A CHANCE. WIth the economy in the toilet, more people will be home than ever before and TRUST ME - everyone does NOT watch reality TV. Bring back the night time soap opera!! Long Live Lipstick Jungle!
bring Lipstick Jungle back!!! It's smart and interesting show. I love it! And I definitely think that comparing it with Sex and the City is totally wrong, because it's not the same stuff, ok, it's similar, but that's all. We don't shout about another copy of Law and Order etc, why do we need to do that now. Just bring it back to us!!!
Why not sell it to lifetime??? Since they are trying to build thier programing and would give it a better chance that NBC that wants every show to have Friends ratings.
They are going through all this trouble to keep this piece of garbage on the air? If they cancel chuck after this I will... not be happy. At all.
I love Lipstick Jungle!!! Please don't let it go!!!
Lipstick Jungle is such an amazing show & one of my personal favorites, don't let it die!
I'm a UK based fan of Lipstick Jungle. I love the show and hope it comes back for more as it is in my opinion, much better than S&TC. I like the characters more than S&TC, plus I actually care what they are going thru.
So NBC - do what you have to do to keep it on air and let us enjoy more of what we love watching.
Actually this is/was a great show but I don't expect that NBC is smart enough to continue it, after all they did everything they could to sabotage it. I wish they would sell it outright to a channel that would run with it or continue it for one more season in a good time-slot that women and committed/married couples could watch it and commit to it for a full year in that time-slot, moving it around as much as they did no one could find it without Te-vo or downloading it off the Internet.
i like Lipstick Jungle please bring it back :(
BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!
I love this show
I'm all about Lazarus shows
NBC, trying to save something, . . . they are so much better at killing off shows . . . they must smell revenue somewhere.
Who's kidding who? What other group would pick up the costs for this show? Lipstick Jungle is definitely no FNL. If Jericho couldn't even find another suitor (remember the talk about Comcast?), then Lipstick shouldn't really have a shot.
Please save Lipstick Jungle it was a great show, didn't miss it not once. Please BRING IT BACK!!!
We Loooove this show!!! Come on guys!! Lets save Lipstick Jungle!! Please!! Please!!! Would be great to keep this show!!
I hope that NBC saves Lipstick Jungle. I love the series and would love to see it back on tv.
i believe all women who watch this show simply fall in love with it!!!they have to keep it...its one of the best shows out there
LIPSTICK JUNGLE JUST HAS TO COME BACK!!! HOW CAN THEY LET THIS WONDERFUL SHOW GO? IF FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS CAME BACK SO CAN LIPSTICK JUNGLE. IT IS AT THE TOP OF MY RATINGS. ALL THE WOMEN ARE FABULOUS AND I FEEL LIKE I AM RIGHT THERE WITH THEM. IT IS SUCH A WONDERFUL SERIES!
FNL deserves a 4th season!!!
Would be great to keep this show on NBC. Being from Canada, I don't get DirectTV or USA Network (where NBC sent L&O:CI) and usually don't have access to watch on-line. But, with Leno taking over the 10 pm weekday slot, NBC will probably be looking at losing more shows. Heard there were maybe two shows to replace ER, but that's only one time slot, and at 10 pm to boot...
Im hoping the show will be ok, its rocks. The girls are fab plus Kirby is a bonus but its a show u can get into.
I'm glad, it's a good series I've watched every episode of. These are characters you can really get behind, I'm hoping it can be saved.
I hope they can save the show. I like it. People say that is a copy from Sex in the city... I don't agree. It has some similar things.... so what??? The both shows were written by the same writer.... I don't understand why so many people hates the show...
I do hope they can do something with the show. It was one I quite liked and I could see the potential.
FNL Rocks!!!
I hope they manage to save it, I enjoy the show.
It wasn't that bad, but the characters didn't a little bit more... exploring I guess. Hard working and powerful women wasn't that bad, but they focused more on other topics.
Man NBC must be a network rolling in a lot of dough if they can afford a push to save two shows with low ratings from cancellation like this. I still think that CBS could have done a whole lot more to save Jericho from it's second cancellation instead of dumping it in a dead ratings zone and depend on the ratings to pick up (And they had the money to do more too!)
And don't get me started on ABC. Is Disney broke or something?
What passionate fanbase?
I couldn't get past the first episode. Brooke is scary looking.
