NCIS: Does Gibbs Die In This Season 13 Trailer? Maybe! (VIDEO)

The newest preview for Season 13 of NCIS is here, and Leroy Jethro Gibbs is dead! Well, maybe. Picking up where the Season 12 finale left off, Gibbs is in bad shape after getting shot by some dumb kid. Way to go kid!

Take a look at Gibbs as he struggles to make it to Episode 2:

Oh man, I hate it when I almost die and I have to go through one of those hallucinatory episodes where I have to make peace with specters from my past. Such an inconvenience. And what do you know!? It appears Jon Cryer has moved on from horny guy in Two and a Half Men to wisecracking ER surgeon. Congrats, dude!

What do you think, does Gibbs die? He's totally going to die. Dead as a doorknob. R.I.P., Gibbs. We'll miss you!

NCIS returns Tuesday, September 22 at 8pm on CBS.

Gibbs won't die IF (a) the show wants to survive, and (b) he gets a new contract! However, I agree with stanking that it might be, from a theatrical point of view, wise to move him up to the director's job as he is already pretty busy as the show's Executive Producer, as well as the guiding hand for N.C.I.S. New Orleans. There's only so much one person can do, and it might be fun to see Tony as team leader. He has had the job, temporarily, before. If it's any consolation to fans, there is no indication on Wikipedia that Mark Harmon will be going anywhere!

The obvious progression would be for Leon to retire (to spend more time with his kids), Gibbs to finally take the director's job, and Tony take over the team. Maybe as a bonus we'd actually get to see a conversation between Gibbs and Hetty.

well gibbs is highest paid tv actor, maybe after ashton kucher. so maybe they thought they r paying him too much and decided to save money.

I love Gibbs, but he is looking old this season. I hope he survives the shooting, gets a promotion to an office job, so that Tony can be the team leader.

Yeah it seems to me that trailer spoils that Gibbs is not going to be killed off? I mean the way Jon Cryer appears at last minute as Gibbs is flatlining and cockily says his cheesy line "Time to dance Agent Gibbs, mind if I lead" implies there is a 99.9% chance that he is going to save Gibbs.

Gibbs is the heart of the team. He's left before and they've floundered. He always finds his way back to them. Besides, they've done this 'face-your-ghosts' thing alot with him. He's almost died several times in the series. I agree that if he dies, the show dies with him.

eventually they have to kill him and let tony take over but they have no one to inject tony's jokes (which have been the highlights over last few seasons)

Gibbs dies, then the show does too....... Not as good as it used to be but I still watch it. Even started to warm up to the girl who came on after Ziva left, the one everyone still complains about..... So Jon Cryer is joining the show....

As much as I am certain Gibbs won't die. The show would never get rid of Mark Harmon. I think the show would actually benefit from Gibb's death especially in such s meaningless way. Of course they would never do it. Still.....

Gibbs has already had an episode where he was shot and hallucinated about the specters from his past before making peace with them. I stopped watching NCIS after Ziva left- simply because I forgot about it- but is the show maybe running out of ideas after 12 seasons?

I'd be more impressed if it was Gibbs' retirement flashback. This show is so afraid of moving forward.

I disagree. This show isn't afraid of anything. It could go on forever, unfortunately. Ah, but I don't have to watch it, thankfully...

No Gibbs no NCIS , they'll be wheeling Gibbs out from the retirement home when NCIS season 25 goes to air :)

Gibbs won't die, but the introduction of Jon Cryer's character suggests that Ducky may be retiring. This may also be leading towards Gibb's retirement. Although the show has had it's fair share of shocking deaths to the point where they aren't all that shocking anymore.

If you think about all the Franks appearances after his death, then Gibbs has been hallucinating for a while. But this show is known for it's head-versions of dead characters.

Jon Cryer is playing a Navy surgeon who operates on Gibbs - nothing to do with Ducky. Cryer is guest-starring for three episodes.

If you think about all the explosions Gibbs has survived, maybe he's been in a coma since season 3/4 and all the seasons since then have been a dream.

Or perhaps the hallucinations are a sign that he really, really should retire.

Kill this character, kill off all the characters and then cancel this waste of time.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it should be cancelled. How would you feel if someone cancelled you just because they didn't like you?

I used to like it, when it premiered in the early '70's. Just what is a NCIS, anyway? We never see them in real life...

NCIS is a real organization, but it's only really involved in military affairs. So if you're not part of the miliary you likely won't encounter them.

All the haters out there can go [redacted] themselves. I'd give up a dozen freshman and sophomore shows out there for more NCIS. It's got solid characters that have grown and it just makes me feel good.
