Neighbours reaches the milestone of 6000 episodes over 25 years, which is an impressive achievement in a world that sees programs cancelled at the drop of a hat.
And the Neighbours production team is making sure that the 6000th episode will be one to remember.
TEN is raving about the twists and turns to be expected in the landmark episode, which will revolve around the notorious baddie Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis), whose bad karma comes back to haunt him in the form of an attempted murder. But who did it?
Alan Fletcher, who has starred in Neighbours as Dr Karl Kennedy since the early '90s, has been talking to AAP about the episode:
"The clever thing about the storyline at the moment is that the 6000th episode is not just about one story. It's actually about three stories all coming together at the same time.
"It's like the street is in upheaval in many areas. Paul Robinson has a very big story which culminates around that time and then continues on after it, Libby Kennedy has a massive story and the way Toadie Rebecchi is affected by that is really interesting too. It's really good human drama."
While the "whodunnit" story plays out, viewers will see the wedding of Donna and Ringo, plus the ongoing drama surrounding the soap's first gay character. TEN is hoping the episode will re-engage an audience in Australia that has dropped off in recent years.
Will you be watching the 6000th episode? The episode will air in Australia on Monday, August 23, at 6.30pm
