Netflix's Arrested Development Has a Premiere Date

Netflix pinched us again today to see if we were dreaming, but the return of Arrested Development is apparently very real. The on-demand video and DVD-delivery service woke up early in the morning to announce the comedy's return date: Sunday, May 26. Convenient for binge watchers, since that's over Memorial Day weekend.

On that day at 12:01am Pacific Time, all episodes of the cult comedy's miraculous fourth season will be released on Netflix for Netflix subscribers. What's more, the episode count has been increased from 14 to 15. As previously announced, each episode will focus on one character, with a larger story unfolding from different perspectives.

I liked Ouse of cards but watching it over a week was too much! A it dark. I think I would have really loved it if I watched it staggered. I hope I don't spoil arrested development like that, really promising myself not to gorge.

I'm so excited! I heard Jason Bateman's will be the only recurring character in each episode so I hope it's still good without their ensemble chemistry. I'm not too worried though.

It won't be ensemble. Yeah, it costs too much money and the actors are too busy. So each episode is about one character and where they are now. Some characters recur a little bit.

Well I would suggest checking it out, but start from the beginning, in my opinion there's no other way to watch a tv show.

I wish I were brave enough to watch it backwards (but I'm not). Of course living outside of US I don't have a holiday that weekend :(.

It's hard to believe that almost 10 years ago, I got the editor job for AD back when this place was known as TV Tome (is it blasphemy to speak that name now?). At the time, all I knew was that it was simply an "upcoming comedy."

Can't wait for its return, and I really hope we get that movie too!

If the owner of TVTome hadn't sold out, I'm convinced that site would have become as popular as YouTube is now.

Of course I have silly, but I'm still hoping the movie will be so successful that Netflix will order up a fourth season. A girl can dream, no? Screw diamonds.

1. Lucille
2. George
3. Michael
4. Buster
5. GOB
6. Lindsay
7. Tobias
8. George-Michael
9. Maeby
10. ?Annyong?
11. ?Steve Holt?
12. ?Barry Zuckerkorn?
13. ?Kitty?
14. ?Other Lucille?
15. ?The one armed man or the master of disguise?

As you can see, there's not enough characters for each episode to focus on one character and there to be 15 episodes. Hopefully, they'll do multiple episodes from a main casts perspective instead of bit characters getting episodes.
What was the guys name who kept showing up in costumes and Lucille would always scream? Gene Parmesan?

"Hopefully, they'll do multiple episodes from a main casts perspective." That is what they're doing.

I'm shocked they're releasing them all at once. I expected an episode-per-week or something of that nature. If for no other reason than to keep people logging into Netflix for a longer period of time.

One a holiday weekend? I'm going to probably watch it all in one shot.

Ah! The countdown to subscribing to Netflix again has been set.
I hadn't actually been paying attention to the news about this previously though, I'm surprised its all being realeased at once. It was a draw for me return but it looks like I might be able to return via a free trial, see what I want, and leave without properly subscribing. Strange strategy.

I may not watch it right when it's released, because I want to rewatch the first three seasons (and get my dad into the show) and we're already watching 10 shows on Netflix right now, but I'm definitely excited about this. Easily my most anticipated Netflix comedy (and now that Community sucks, it will easily clinch the spot for best comedy this season for me), and also one of my most anticipated announced Netflix shows, period.
