New cast for Heroes, Supernatural

A pair of television shows added a pair of fetching young lasses to their casts today, and they won't exactly be the stereotypical damsels in distress.

Dana Davis will be flying high with the cast of Heroes next season as yet another "ordinary person with extraordinary abilities," according to Reuters. She'll stay on as a regular with powers, but her abilities--just like all the other new additions to the cast--are being kept secret.

The actress was most recently seen on a pair of shows that have since gone under. She played Felicia Jones on the much-touted The Nine, and Michelle on Hidden Palms. Davis will also be seen next year on the big screen in the slasher Prom Night.

Supernatural is adding to its cast as well. Lauren Cohan joins the CW sci-fi drama as a demon hunter named Bela and will reportedly make her debut on the October 18 episode of the show. The announcement comes shortly after the network revealed that Katie Cassidy had also joined the show as another female hunter.

Cohan's portfolio is still growing, but she was featured in 2005's Casanova and in the National Lampoon sequel Van Wilder 2: The Rise of Taj.

Personally, I like the Bela (Isn't it Bella, who isn't a demon hunter?) character. I also liked Jo and beginning-Ava (her end seemed odd, but perhaps it had more effect than a more gathered male would've had)

The reason is simple: They had their own subplots. Girls like Sarah, the black girl, Bens mom, they all show the start of a relationship, and then we never, ever hear from them again. Wth? I can sorta understand Dean doing it, even though he did seem like he had a real thing going for the black girl, and Bens mom practically came out and said "when you're tired of hunting, come and play house with me."
But Sam? Meets Sarah. Impresses her with art history knowledge. They hook up. Then he leaves, promising he'll call. Forgets her. Skip a few pages. Hooks up with werewolf. For the soft, sensitive brother, that's real nice.

I agree with 12chris6 except it's "Sarah" not "Erika"

I love to see Taylor Cole instead of Katie and Lauren. However, it's premature of me to say that Katie's and Lauren's character won't be a major hit. I still love Taylor's Character but I think Katie and Lauren will be great additions to the show

This is worrying about Supernatural - adding two female characters smells like 'love interests'. The last time they tried that with Jo, please tell me they're not trying that again!

I also wonder about the reason behind having 2 women joining Supernatural. What will they be, love interests? I hope not, this was a wonderful show as is, with the two brothers. I loved how they worked together, or not at times, what will women add to it that wasn't already there, but to bring this "love" theme. We dont need that in a show like "Supernatural". We don't need another "soap opera". I hope this doesn't lead the show down another path, "Supernatural" was one of my favorites to watch.

12chris6, I think you mean Sarah :)

For those who are worried about the Supernatural additions, I recommend this interview with Kripke - it definitely helped allay some of my fears. I'm still keeping my faith!

Instead of the new addition of girls to Supernatural, I would have preferred Erika (Taylor Cole) to come back as a regular. Sam could bave showed her the ropes.

I, so far, am not liking the addition of the 2 girls. :(

Hope they get added well... especially the 2 girls in SUpernatural... I would really hate the show to loose it's main focus (the Winchester Brothers) and therefor loose it's essence and appeal.
Guess we'll have to trust TETIK & Co on that... *crosses fingers*

I really hope they don't screw my shows up with all these new cast members. Don't get me wrong I love women but Supernatural is about two brothers and now we have two women joining the hunt. I bet one of them will be a love interest, and I've seen too many shows ruined with they stray away from the lead characters or the chemistry isn't right.
