New Law & Order Follows NCIS to Los Angeles

... The original Law & Order is now officially dead, but a new offspring is taking its place. NBC has announced that it is picking up LOLA (Law & Order: Los Angeles) because why the hell not? As long as there are cities with both law and order, NBC will be able to fill out its schedule. Let's hope they meet up with the NCIS crew in SoCal and have a fight to the death! [NBC]

... You want the latest on Heroes? Here it is: Things aren't looking good. The newest rumor has NBC either canceling the series altogether, or giving it a six-episode wrap-up run, or letting it bow out with a two-night, four-hour farewell. Either way, we should know about its fate in the next few days. Can we just get this over with and cancel it already? [Deadline Hollywood]

... TNT continues its love affair with Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Saved by the Bell). The network has picked up Franklin and Bash, a dramedy about two street-smart lawyers (Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer) who start up their own firm. [TNT via press release]

... The Wanda Sykes Show has been canceled. Noooooooooooooo! I mean, whateverrrrrrrrrrrrr! [Deadline Hollywood]

... The remake of The Rockford Files is apparently dead at NBC. The show got a lot of criticism for trying to replace legend James Garner with Dermot Mulroney, but given that half the people who watched the original are now dead, I didn't think it was that big of a problem. The pilot was allegedly re-shot and re-cut so many times that it was an unrecognizable mess of what it used to be. Kind of like Heidi Montag. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Do you like frats? Do you love the '80s? You'll probably be stoked about TBS' newest pickup Glory Daze, about a group of fraternity pledges in 1980s Wisconsin. It's like That '70s Show, but ten years later! And look: It's got Daze in the title instead of Days because really, weren't we all in a daze back then? Reaganomics, GoBots, Flock of Seagulls, cocaine parties on Wall Street... ahhhh, those were the days. I mean, daze! (This show sounds dumb. And before you think I'm jumping the gun, know that it comes from the guys who brought us the intellectually challenging Wild Hogs and You, Me and Dupree.) [Deadline Hollywood]

... You know what sounds better than Glory Daze? Super Eruption! SyFy's latest made-for-peanuts telemovie is all about a gigantic volcano that erupts in Yellowstone Park. Couldn't they have set it in some place less valuable? Like Orange County? [THR]

I love LO, especially the first one, but I think LOLA ( what lame name is that ? ) is bound to fail. Come on, LO is NY incarnate ! Can't possibly work anywhere else ! I'm French, and when I think NY, I think LO, and vice versa !

I'm sure that story about Yellowstone has already been told, maybe it was a documentary though......

It makes perfect sense to set the Super Eruption movie in Yellowstone as it IS a super volcano. In fact, the ground has been rising slowly, as the magma chamber fills. One of the lakes is actually starting to tilt and shift its borders.

Here's an idea. Why don't they just leave the franchise alone. The original is dead. So be it. It's been 20 years. But haven't they learned anything from Trial By Jury? I guess not. Besides the original, the only one that is any good is SVU. Criminal Intent is on the wire for me. Just leave it alone people. You don't need anymore. That would be like adding another one onto the CSI franchise. And 3 is enough for that one too. And like Law & Order, CSI is getting a bit stale after being on the air for so long. I think they should take the first one off and just leave Miami & New York. But that's just my opinion. Sometimes there is just too much of a good thing. And this would be one of those times.

What do networks know? Food for thought... ABC canceling Flash Forward but keeping V. Why V is recycled? Are so many watchers wanting a way to escape from our current situation in the U.S.. I found Flash Forward more compelling. I watch tv via abc.co. Yes I may be in the dark in tv land with no converter box but I would like my viewing to count. Do networks use Nielsen ratings only or do they take online viewing into consideration? Flash Forward may be Sci-Fi but is much more relevant. Not just double agents but Triple agents: FBI, CIA, and criminally connected, and story lines involving terrorists and government cover ups. V I can watch to see what they are going to put in the next episode but Flash Forward leaves me wanting more before the next episode. As for Law & Order SVU what about Sharon Stone as the new ADA who would have thought an actor would choose to return to network prime-time tv. Give ABC something to think about!

Didn't know L&O was dead but the best they could come with to replace it was Law & Order Los Angeles? Really even the acronym makes me cringe LOLA...LOL, That's definitely going to follow in the footsteps of the other L&O train-wreck Trial By Jury!

While I'm sorry to see Law & Order go, I'm not at all keen on Law & Order:Los Angeles. Why not Law & Order Chicago or Law & Order:Milwaukee? Have the nework execs run out of original locations for tv shows? One thing that does put a smile on my face is NBC passing on the remake of the Rockford Files. I grew up watching the original and no actor can fill the shoes of James Garner.

Let us hope that Law & Order: Los Angeles is better then Law & Order and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. And as good as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

LA? Nobody seems to want to do anything original anymore. I'll still watch though, I like the L&O franchise.

The reason Super Eruption is set in Yellowstone National Park is because Yellowstone National Park is one massive super volcano. Don't believe me? Go Google it. Now, I'm not defending this inevitable piece of trash, I'm just saying that for once it sounds like they are loosely (and I stress loosely) basing this movie on scientific fact.

I'm glad they're dropping the Rockford remake. It couldn't have lived up to the original.

Seriously???!!! LOLA??? Why can\'t they locate a show elsewhere? I swear TV honchos haven\'t taken US geography - there ARE cities outside of NY and LA! How about a cop show located in Minneapolis-Saint Paul, in NC\'s Research Triangle, in Atlanta...? It\'s gotten to the point that seeing a show like Bones located in DC seems like an innovation, and locating The Good Wife in Chicago makes it bold and daring!!!

They cancel L&O to air a version set in LA...that makes no sense whatsoever...unless its the idea of the same person who liked Jay Leno in prime time....
