For fans of female-powered dramas, the hoopla surrounding NBC's Lipstick Jungle took a turn for the worse today. The network announced its January schedule, and there's no sign of Lipstick Jungle or Crusoe (more on that in a minute).
What has been included are three new reality shows (ugh!): The recently announced Superstars of Dance and Momma's Boys will take over Mondays, and Howie Do It will lead off Fridays. For those who haven't been keeping up with the reality beat, Superstars of Dance is a dancing-competition show, Momma's Boys is a dating show in which moms pick women for their grown-up sons (losers!), and Howie Do It is about... Well, all we know right now is it involves Howie Mandel, which is more than enough information to pass judgment.
Wait a second--what's up with Monday's one-two combo of Heroes and Chuck? Both of those shows will take January off (as will Life) and return in February, probably with plenty of hype from the Super Bowl on February 1.
As previously reported, Friday Night Lights returns to NBC on January 16 on Fridays, sandwiched between Howie Do It and Dateline NBC in what has to be one of the most interesting trios of shows ever in television history.
But what of the disappearance of Lipstick Jungle and Crusoe? Although the absence of both these bubble shows doesn't mean that they are definitely canceled, it certainly doesn't bode well for them. If you are a "glass is half-full" kind of person, NBC has yet to officially cancel either, and this schedule is only for January. However, we are in the day and age of networks trying to be too nice to shows and not outright canning programs. Suck it up, NBC! Tell us what's really going on!
Here's NBC's January schedule:

I LOVE Lipstick Jungle, I have seen every show and was always looking forward to the next week so I could see what happens. I just found out they canceled it today. Let me say what morons work at NBC!!! I mean who the heck wants to watch Howie Do It? That's what they replaced my show with...COME ON NOW!!!
what is it with networks now thinking that they can bin the good shows and feed us crap. lipstick jungle is a good entertaining show that makes people laugh with the characters and how they react. axing cashmere mafia was bad enough, don't get rid of this as well.
C'mon! Why do they always get rid of good little shows like Lipstick Jungle?!! Who cares about Crusoe! And momma's boys?? ick!
Friendly Ali got it right, pick up axed shows...My opinion: Keep Lipstick Jungle! Chuck is the best, Heroes rulez.
oh comon so NBC keeps kath and kim and puts lipstick jungle on hiatus!!! what the hell is wrong with NBC!!!???
Wow it looks like NBC doesn't care if anyone is watching their crappy shows. I won't be watching NBC until the Superbowl!
They better keep Life on!!! Looking forward to Medium back on in February=)
I still like the Law & Order franchise -- and I'll watch Knight Rider with my son, but the rest of this stuff is not very exciting. I agree with the posters below... Chuck is the only great show on NBC right now.
I agree with rkay! Kath and Kim is a load of " you know what"...Drop the zero stay with LIPSTICK JUNGLE!!!!
Not another DANCE REALITY SHOW!!!! Give me a break NBC!! Lipstick Jungle is the only original show that you have. Market it like crazy! Put the Ladies on with daytime talk shows and move it to mondays at 9 not FRIDAYS! Stop stealing Australia's and the UK's shows and be original! KEPP LIPSTICK JUNGLE!!!!
Lame shows replacing lame shows. And NBC thinks they'll improve viewership?
we have turned into a nation of drama seekers with more and more "reality" shows around every corner. have we lost interest in storytelling and writers since the strike?
Don't they depend on people watching?
What a crappy line-up. Well I guess I won't be watching much on NBC.
I like Lipstick Jungle. It totally grew on me. I also watch My Own Worse Enemy (another one that grew but guess it doesn;t matter), Chuck, Life and 30 Rock. (thank goodness for Hulu) Cannot wait for FNL!!
Medium has been confirmed for a 5th season.
My tv viewing is slowly coming to an end.The shield had its series finale, sons of anarchy is over for the season, the ultimate fighter will be over for the season next week. All i have left right now is chuck, family guy and american dad.Well basically i still have chuck because i rarley find myself laughing at familyguy anymore,or even watching it.Chuck just became one of those goofy shows that i couldnt help but really like.I hope they dont cancel it,or at least renew it for one more season giving it a second chance. If memory serves me correctly chuck did pretty good in its first season before the writers strike killed tv.
I agree with the previous poster. Chuck is the only reason I watch NBC. One of the best shows on TV, and definitely my favorite.
I also notice no Medium was it canceled ?
I agree with FriendlyAli too...
Agree with FriendlyAli, not to mention NBC got rid of Scrubs (which is on ABC now), then NBC should pick up Eli Stone or a couple other shows that were good and got axed.
Wow, a "major" network-- and only one show worth watching in January (Friday Night Lights). At least February shall bring back Heroes, and hopefully Medium. Here's an idea, NBC: since you can't come up with much that's decent, why don't you take on and nurture the good dramas ABC comes up with and then cancels despite millions of loyal eyeballs? There's a very long list to choose from, and honestly, what have you got to lose?

Too many shows missing to start making a body count just yet I say
No surprise what a poor show it is like Sex in the city never happened
How is Kath and Kim still going - what a load of rubbish!
Good to see L&O back, but i'm already missing Life. Hope they are not going to close this show, looking forward to February.
Glad to see Law and Order CI coming back but no Medium ?
Merlin as in Merlin the wizard? Thats what I really want.
And also, isn't las templar a novel (I did read one called that a while back)
yeah, what happened to sunday nights, and medium as well? cant wait for FNL.
What happened to Kings, Merlin, and the Philanthropist? Weren't those all supposed to start in Midseason? Or is this schedule just solely for January?
Life and Chuck make NBC, and until they come back, sayonara.
Monday night sucks with this schedule, I will totally tune out and watch Chuck reruns online or something. And what's up with Lipstick Jungle? I don't care one way or the other, but I still want them to make up their darn minds!
Sad to see that Lipstick Jungle isn't on the lineup. I hope they will add it soon!! I love this show! Please bring it back!!
Heroes are going to come back in February. I'm going to miss them after December 15th. :)
Ugh, MORE Knight Rider? Law and Order will make Wednesday bearable. Thursday is (and maybe has been) NBC's strongest night, fortunately that won't seem to change.
I'll only be watching L&O and the Super Bowl.
What a terrible lineup. I'll really miss Heroes, Chuck and Life. Like others I will probably only bother with The Office and 30 Rock. Roll on February.
Wasn't Medium supposed to come back mid-season?
yay more Knight Rider!!!
I sense a huge failure with the new line up.
No Chuck in January!!?? It's already enough torture waiting every week for a new episode, now I can't have it for a month? January is not going to be a good month.
i just realized i only watch 5 shows on NBC and 3 of them arent there in jan...and i dont think ill be checking out any of the new reality shows..they look like losers
No Chuck in January!? NO!!!!!!!!!
Wow. The only NBC show I'm going to watch during January is Friday Night Lights -- on a Friday? Boy does this schedule stink & really proves that NBC is going down the tubes quickly.
What happened to "The Apprentice: Celebrity Editon"?
The reality shows might be a way for NBC to deal with the looming SAG strike....
My guess is that Medium will follow Heroes
Where is Medium??!
