Mondays at 8 p.m.
Considered to be one of the many probable Lost clones, NBC's Surface is the network's big-budget action-adventure gamble. It was originally titled Fathom, but was changed after an unknown entity (much like the show's monster) threatened to sue. A likely guess is that it was the guys who make the comic Fathom, but no one knows for sure. In any case, the trailers look promising, with Firefly-esque high-quality visuals and flair.
High budget sci-fi has always been a gamble for the
big networks, but the success of Lost has everyone outside of ABC trying to play "me too." With a serial story that promises to be more character- than event-driven, though, Surface is likely to be a winner.

Tuesdays at 9 p.m.
Jason Lee, TV.com's favorite should-be superstar, gets his shot on Tuesdays with My Name is Earl. The premise is simple: What would a down-on-his-luck jerk do with a bunch of loot if he won the lottery? Earl tries to make amends with all those he has wronged by helping them out with his newfound cash.
We're curious to see if Earl can keep it up
for more than a couple weeks with such a simple
gimmick. Especially against Dancing with the Stars,
the summer surprise hit, which aims to air a special
at the same time as the opener. A similar fate met
Lee's friend and former director Kevin Smith when his Clerks:
the Animated Series debuted against a little show
called Survivor. If anyone can make it, though, Jason Lee can.

The Apprentice: Martha Stewart
Wednesdays at 8 p.m.
What a strange little run Martha has had in the past couple of years. First she's convicted of insider trading; then she goes to jail; then she loses control of a company which, surprisingly, doesn't collapse; and then, finally, she ends up back on TV. Despite the fact that reality TV seems to be on the downswing and ratings for the second season of Donald Trump's apprentice weren't up to par, this is the one show everyone seems to be talking about.
Even with all the hype, we have to wonder how exciting
Martha's merry band of wannabees will be, when most
of the airtime will most likely be spent in the kitchen.
Compared to Trump, one can only imagine that her farewells
to parting contestants will involve more hugging than screaming.

Wednesdays at 9 p.m.
E-Ring is an action-drama set in the Pentagon, and the main player here is the maestro of more, executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer (CSI). The show was cocreated by a former Green Beret who now works as a terrorism analyst for CNN, so the nuts and bolts of military procedure should be in place. The series' pilot should make a safe landing, because having stars like Dennis Hopper and Benjamin Bratt on board will cause the vehicle to show up on everyone's radar. The question is: Will it explode like the other terrorist-busting series, 24, or simply crash and burn like The American Embassy, another political action-drama. One way to ensure that viewers won't try to blow up the Pentagon: Don't let Dennis Hopper speak in an accent.
Fridays at 9 p.m.
Who says reality shows are on the wane? Not television network executives. This show, starring Christian pop star Amy Grant, is the kind of feel-good hit that America needs right now. At least, that's what the people over at NBC are hoping. In this poignant series, Grant and her crew travel from town to town, granting one wish each to three different people.
Everyone's wish is granted, however, when each show ends with a concert by Amy Grant.
Fridays at 10 p.m.
NBC is hoping they can give birth to a hit with this ensemble drama that deals with the everyday trials and tribulations of a fertility clinic.Ming-Na, Angie Harmon, and Jonathan Cake (Empire) are all on board this effort to nurture a successful successor to ER. Medical dramas are still hot, and fertility treatments are making headlines, so this show could be a surprise hit. However, it's saddled with the dreaded Friday-night time slot.
Babies aren't just for use as dramatic story devices: Angie Harmon just had a daughter, and Ming-Na is pregnant. Now that's inconceivable!

When is Surface COMING ON!!!
none of these are good.
I have three favorites! Medium, Surface and Invasion. All great shows and I hope to see all three new episodes soon. Great and I watch deal or no deal cause I have to right now, but I am looking forward to seeing my favorites again soon, I do hope. Y
I cannot believe CBS cancelled Threshold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of all the Networks CBS is the only one to come up with more than 1 show worth checking out - and it has 4 excellent ones: Criminal Minds, Threshold, Close To Home and Ghost Whisperer.
It is my hope that none of them gets cancelled, although the rumor is that Threshold has been. I do truly hope it is only a rumor!!!!

Go Supernatural!
Leave it to TV.com to leave out the season's most promising new show - Extras on HBO, Sundays at 10:30 PM ET, STARRING RICKY GERVAIS! That's right, Ricky from the original, critically acclaimed UK comedy series "The Office", which is one of the biggest TV hits in the history of UK television.

Check out Extras here >> http://www.hbo.com/extras/

Other than that, nothing seems to good, especially if you're already hooked on great shows like Nip/Tuck on FX which is the best show on TV, Lost, 24 and Boston Legal. Other fillers from last season like Desperate Housewives and the 3rd year of The O.C. and Las Vegas, and nothing other than Kitchen Confidential and Extras is worth checking out for me.

Other shows that seem interesting are "Everybody Hates Chris" just because I want to see if Chris Rock really ripped off Howard Stern's idea for "Howard Stern, The High School Years" which was announced 2 years ago but hasn't hit the air on SpikeTV yet, and Close To Home, which I saw a preview for and seems good.

But the show to NOT miss is the third season of Nip/Tuck starting THIS TUESDAY!moreless
FOX was 10 years ahead of everyone else with a sci-fi show I guess. They are the only network without one for this fall season. Interesting. But can the other networks hold up against the X-Files with there Sci-Fi shows.
"Here's something you don't see every day: a medical crime drama." This is one of the funniest, dry and witty things I've read in a long time. Rock on, TV.com!
Well, will you look at that FOX decided to make shows with budgets and only start with one ridiculous sitcom.
There are so many big(ger) starts on tv these days. maybe the quality of network shows will get better! i saw some of the chris rock one on an airplane last week and it looked funny.
stickin with Charmed, One Tree Hill & The O.C.
Why is it that whenever a new show strikes gold, like the original and well-written Lost, the other networks all say, "We need a show like Lost--supernatural or scifi!"? Instead, they should say, "We need a show like Lost--original and well written!"

Morons.
THE REST...
I think Reunion might be pretty good, but it's getting hard to keep track with all the sci-fi shows that are coming out. I keep getting them confused. Invasion, Threshhold, Surface; I can almost not tell them apart. They're right. This is because of Lost, but you can't classify Lost as sci-fi yet, at least not until we find out what's in the hatch.
tight yo
Reunion i'll watch just for Chyler and Alexis
Bones I will watch cause Herc from AICN told me to
Kitchen Confidential, I might watch...we'll see
maybe I'll watch How I Met Your Mother...only cause Willow's on it
I will give Invasion 3 episodes...if it doesn't have me by then, i will quit
I'd like to watch Earl...jason lee is great. but i already watch too many shows...
This new version of The Night Stalker sounds like an abomination. Everything that made the original great will be exiled to the dustbin. What a tragedy.
Bones is based on the books of Kathy Reichs so the show should be good, if a little heavy on the technical side of forensic anthropology.
E-Ring looks fantastic...similar to JAG.
There sure are gonna be a lot of movie stars on tv this fall
I've seen the pilot for E-ring and it was terrible, three wishes looks painfully bad...a poor attempt to pick up Extreme Makeover: home Edition viewers that will fail and Inconveivable sounds interesting but I hate Ming-Na so I wont be watching
E-Ring sounds like a good show, can't wait to see it.
Oh, yeah right as if Geena Davis could ever really be taken seriously as Presidant of the United States. An ignorant twit can be leader of the free world . . . actually considering what has happened with Katrina and the relief fun maybe he can.
My Name Is Earl seems rather promising, and with a large amount of comedies set to air at Mid-Season, i can only hope they will redeem NBC's high Comedy status.
I have the same thought about the new series. I love that there are so many genre shows coming out all at once because it means that at least one of them might be worthwhile. However, I am also very worried that people will get sick of them and the networks will back way off. We'll have to see.

I also have to say that I'm a little annoyed at the coverage of Kitchen Confidential. There have been tons of articles about it, but other than those on specifically Buffy related sites, I have not seen a single one that even mentioned that Nick Brendon (formerly 'Xander' on Buffy)will be in this series. I think this is a shame and a mistake, as he is likely to be a draw for all the Buffyphiles out there.moreless
Yes I am new to the site but will be returning a lot, found your site by axident I have been looking for a site to let me know about new and old shows. And looks like I have found it.
I am likely person number one-hundred billion and three to point this out, but does it seem a little like the stars of “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” and “Angel” are desperate to make a comeback? Really. I mean, really. Let's look at this. We have the former Xander Harris, Nicholas Brendon, playing a chef in FOX’s “Kitchen Confidential.” The heartthrob Angel from . . . well, “Angel” is returning as a surly government hotshot in “Bones”, premiering soon on FOX, and there’s even sweet Alyson Hannigan who was known as Willow, the spell-casting, lesbian-loving, computer-nerdy, redheaded witch from “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” rolling up her sleeves and taking on a life in the sitcom world of CBS’s “How I Met Your Mother.”
But why stop there?
TJ Thyne of the new show “Bones” played a lawyer on “Angel” several times. Sam Pancake of “Kitchen Confidential” played the manager of the Coffee Spot in the pilot episode of “Angel.” The FOX show “Reunion” holds another “Angel” star: the former Gwen Raiden, Alexa Davalos. Another CBS show, “Close To Home” boasts the former “Angel” vindictive lawyer and often Angel’s nemesis Lindsey McDonald (Christian Kane).
I will bet you anything there are others. I will bet you anything there are many others, and if not now, there will be more. They will come.
I just wanted to be person one-hundred billion and three to point this out.
Intresting, that the banner has a picture of Heather Graham, from "Emily's Reasons Why Not", but it's not listed.
Am looking forward to the new season though, so good shows coming
You got the cast and character wrong on your review of Close to Home. Actress Jennifer Finnigan plays Annaebeth Chase, not the other way around.
It is interesting to me that Freddie Prinze Jr would be interested in doing a show about his father. To Freddie it seems to me it would be doing a show on a historical figure since Freddie was not alive yet when his father passed.
Too bad kids show on networks like YTV and Teletoon weren't included in the report.
