News Briefs: ABC Is Not Canceling General Hospital (The Revolution, However, Is a Goner)

... With daytime soap operas dying off as housewives spend more time playing Angry Birds and scouring cougar dating sites, ABC not cancelling a soap suddenly becomes news. General Hospital will not be following recently departed ABC soaps All My Children and One Life To Live into the dustbin. Instead, ABC is solidifying its daytime schedule by canceling The Revolution, the daytime talk show about being healthy. Why? Because when you're unemployed and sitting on the couch watching your stories, you don't like to be reminded that you're fat. [Deadline Hollywood]


... The Walking Dead comic creator Robert Kirkman has the comic-to-TV-series thing figured out: He's got a second comic series in development at AMC in Thief of Thieves. This one doesn't have zombies, so it can't possibly be interesting. In Thief of Thieves, a talented thief with dual identities steals things that have already been stolen. That sounds okay. But what if the thief were... a zombie? [THR]

... To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Fox is digging into its files to remind you how far it's come. The network will re-air the 1987 pilot episode of Married With Children, which will remind you of the days when stars Katey Sagal and Ed O'Neill didn't play grandparents and Christina Applegate was the slutty teen and not the new mother. Look for it on April 22 at 7pm, an hour before the network's 25th Anniversary Special. [Fox via press release]

... Betty White joined Twitter yesterday... or did she!? A Twitter account created yesterday was said to be the official feed for the beloved actress and immediately attracted more than 100,000 followers, but White told friends she didn't know what the heck was going on. After a misunderstanding, it was discovered that White's PR people opened the account on her behalf, so any nude twit-pics you got from her probably weren't real. [People]


... Charlie Sheen is booking his ex-wife Denise Richards for a guest role on his new FX show Anger Management. Richards will play the business partner of the in-show ex played by Shawnee Smith. These two are absolutely insane. [TV Line]

... David Tennant (Doctor Who) is coming to America via BBC America. He’ll star in Spies of Warsaw, a drama set in Europe just before World War II. No word yet on when it will air. [Deadline Hollywood]

... FX's American Horror Story is adding French actress Lizzie Brocheré. Chances are that if you are familiar with her body of work, you are familiar with her body, as she's done lots of racy films in her native country. [TV Line]
