News Briefs: A&E Sets Premiere Dates for Longmire, The Glades

SCHEDULING SHENANIGANS

... Everyone else is doing it, so why shouldn't A & E? The cable channel announced its summer premiere dates today, revealing that the third season of The Glades will begin June 3 at 9pm. That will be followed by the series debut of Longmire, a Western-ish crime drama set in modern-day Montana and starring Robert Taylor and Katee Sackhoff as sheriffs. It's based on a book series, so if start reading now you'll be able to shout out spoilers and annoy your mom. [A & E via press release]

... Speaking of moms, OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network, has also announced a few summer premiere dates. New series: Are You Normal, America? debuts on June 4, Lives On Fire begins on June 8, and Million Dollar Neighborhood and Real Life: The Musical start on June 9. Returning series: Oprah's Next Chapter and Our America with Lisa Ling will be back on June 10. I have no idea what any of those shows are, but I'm guessing their goal is to make you cry or leave your husband. [Deadline Hollywood]

BUSINESS TIME

... TV Land has ordered a dozen more episodes of Happily Divorced, Fran Drescher's sitcom about a woman who starts dating again after her husband comes out as gay. If I were married to Fran Drescher, I'd probably pretend to be gay, too. Oh man, Fran Drescher has never been burned so hard. [Deadline Hollywood]

... E! will be renewing After Lately for a third season. The fake behind-the-scenes look at real talk show Chelsea Lately stars Chelsea Handler and her writing staff in a mockumentary type format. This is great news for Chelsea Handler's biggest fan, Chelsea Handler. [Deadline Hollywood]

BOARDWALK EMPIRE NEWS

... Some guys who work on HBO's Boardwalk Empire sat in chairs on a stage and talked about the show. One of the things they said was that Season 3 will pick up 15 months after the events of Season 2, starting with New Year's Eve 1922. New Year's Eve during Prohibition is like Christmas in B.C.! CASTING NEWS

... Strangers With Candy star and sister to a famous writer but not a bad writer in her own right Amy Sedaris will guest-star on Necessary Roughness. She'll play a therapist in the sixth episode of Season 2. [EW]

... Saturday Night Live has revealed some more hosts and musical acts for the season. Will Ferrell will return to 30 Rock: The Building on May 12, accompanied by Usher. Did I say hosts? I guess I just meant one. The previously announced Eli Manning will host the May 5 episode. [NBC via press release]

That Chelsea Handler fan line was awesome Tim, you almost lost me with the pointless knock on Fran Drescher, then you got me back.

Wow, way to stretch as an institution, SNL. So it's 2 new episodes and then Seth Meyers goes back to playing Xbox for a few months? Oh, and it's getting really tired having old SNL stars host the show: "What, you already know all the ins and outs, all the beats and surprises that come with hosting SNL? Gasp and surprise! Oh, maybe you'll trot out one of your old characters or a few of your old castmates to delight the audience? Never gonna see that coming, great job!"
