News Briefs: FX Ordered a Pilot Starring Billy Crystal As a Comedian

MAHHHVELOUS NEWS

... FX has ordered a pilot for The Comedians, and you'll never guess what it's about. Comedians! It might be a stretch for Billy Crystal (JK Billy loved you in Forget Paris), who will star as an aging yuckster who is reluctantly teamed up with a young comedian for a late-night sketch show. Larry Charles (Seinfeld) is behind the project, which is based on a Swedish series. [Variety]

CASTING NEWS

... Billy Baldwin (Daniel's brother) has joined the cast of Copper. Well, for the last two episodes of Season 2 at least. He'll play WIlliam "Wild Bill" Eustace, a power player in New York who turns real estate wheeling and dealing into political power. [BBC American via press release]

... Showtime's Homeland has added a bunch of guest stars to its Season 3 roster, and to be honest I don't know any of them by name. Joanna Merlin (Law & Order: SVU) will play Jessica Brody's mom, Nazanin Boniadi (How I Met Your Mother) joins as a young analyst, Amy Morton (Boss) plays Carrie's lawyer, Gary Wilmes (Louie) plays Dana's psychiatrist, and Sam Underwood (The Last Keepers) plays Dana's new troublemaking friend. Daniel Baldwin was great on Homicide: Life on the Streets. Granted that was 10 years ago, but he was still great. Actually everyone in the cast was great! Look it up young people that have never heard of it!

Are foreign teens not allowed to vote for the TCAs? I just went over to the site and I can't seem to vote.

Hannibal Buress is great, one of my favorite comedians of the current era. Glad to hear he's getting his own standup special out of this, that alone makes it worthwhile. I hope that doesn't mean he can't do more Eric Andre Show though.

Oh American Idol, that is the worst idea ever. And also, go fuck yourself for promoting lily-white, 2nd-placer Clay Aiken over that season's winner, Reuben Studdard.

I am very conflicted about sitting through this final season of Being Human on BBCA. The US edition has managed to find its feet. And there are no characters from the beginning on it anymore. Sure, I supposed Annie, or Nina or George could reappear as a ghost or something. Sure, I liked Hal well enough and I have a soft spot for Tom. But I don't even know the new ghost's name. And other than the fact that Hal is way older than Mitchell and Tom has been a werewolf for pretty much his whole life....what's up?

i actually ended up really liking the new people, hal, tom and alex and the one girl tom was close with as well, i didn't think i would but i would even say i almost enjoyed it more than the first half. really great stuff. i'm currently on the final season. 1 episode in.

I guess what I have to do is move past the originals because I did like the new energy of the new people (and certainly liked the direction of the story after the whole Eve thing) but it is weird. Annie was my favorite character on TV for awhile (I only started liking Sally a bit half way through this season) so you got really attached to that group. Alex...I will have to keep that in my head somewhere...

i know what you mean, annie was such a great character and sort of became the heart of the show in a way... and you get attached to the originals, it's not an easy transition but if you look it at like they aren't replacing them but it's just the next part of the story it helps. the original 3 had their time and story and this is the next chapter. it's different, the new 3 are bit more raw and unpredictable than the originals but i really enjoy both.
in the usa version i only really like the vampire, in the uk version i like all 6 hehe.

Yeah, in the US version, Aiden is a given, I found Sally annoying and I really wanted to like Josh so I kept making excuses. Oddly as this season went on, Aiden got on my nerves, I found Sally funny, and once Josh accepted what happened to him, he was becoming less annoying on his own.

Isn't Nazanin Boniadi the dark-haired British girl Barney dated on HIMYM?

Well, hasn't everything else been cancelled?

It's certainly not going to air in the summer. Episode 8 aired Saturday and there are only 10 episodes total in the first season. We probably won't see season two until 2014.
