News Briefs: Is Britney Spears Headed to The X Factor?

BRB gonna go shave my head.

JUDGE ME BABY ONE MORE TIME NEWS

... Alternating pop star and train wreck Britney Spears has been approached to join The X Factor as a judge. Word is that the show has offered her $10 million to join the panel alongside Simon Cowell, but apparently she's holding out for $16 million, according to one report. Britney! Take the money! $10 million still buys plenty of Taco Bell! [E! Online]

THE GOOD DIE YOUNG NEWS

... Troublesome, but expected, ratings news for Awake. After its premiere posted a respectable 2.0 rating in the adult demo a week ago, last night's second episode sunk 20 percent to a 1.6 rating. Last week, the show had the advantage of going up against repeats, but this week it went up against a new episode of The Mentalist, and Patrick Jane's handsome smile will always defeat good television. Awake is still a long way away from getting canceled, though. [Deadline Hollywood]

CASTING NEWS

... You may not see Tristan Wilds in the final four episodes of 90210, and not just because you don't watch this show. Wilds has come down with an undisclosed illness that will sideline him for an undetermined amount of time. Wilds, who plays Dixon, will be written out of the last four episodes when his singer character goes on tour. [E! Online]

... Saturday Night Live's Will Forte has been added to the cast of NBC's comedy pilot Rebounding. He'll play a man who is getting over the death of his fiancé with the help of his pick-up basketball team. This cast is developing nicely. In addition to Forte, Rebounding stars Aly Michalka (Hellcats), Malcolm Barrett (Better Off Ted), and Matt Jones (Breaking Bad). [Deadline Hollywood]

... Dexter and No Ordinary Family vet Julie Benz has landed the lead in Syfy's Defiance. The sci-fi drama is set in a future where aliens and humans coexist on a war-torn earth. Benz will play the mayor of a mining town. A female mayor! Ha! Only in Hollywood! (jk!) [TV Line]

... Neal MacDonough, who is currently owning fools on Justified as Robert Quarles, will co-star in LA Noir, the TNT drama from Frank Darabont. He'll switch sides and actually play a good guy for once, suiting up in the blue of LA's police chief and looking to clean up the city. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Denise Richards has joined the cast of Lifetime's remake of The Blue Lagoon. But don't expect any coconut bras for Richards; she's playing the MILF. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Susan Lucci is getting out of daytime! But she's staying on a soap! Lucci, who starred on the recently canceled All My Children for 41 years (41 years!), will star in ABC's Devious Maids, a drama about maids who work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. Lucci will play someone rich and famous, obviously. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Martha Stewart will guest-star on CBS's 2 Broke Girls in early May. She'll play herself and will probably talk about her vagina. [CBS via press release]

... USA's Political Animals is putting together a pretty great cast. In addition to James Wolk and Sigourney Weaver, Carla Gugino is set to star in the drama about a former first family in Washington. Gugino will play a journalist looking to derail the former first lady's (Weaver) career. [Deadline Hollywood]

NBC kept The Event on for a full year. If anything, they're not fickle enough.

Well she's a worse singer than all of the previous incarnations winners.

Britney needs to stay from the X factor, she is too good for the X factor, plus she doesn't need to deal with any of Simon's B S

My sniper now has info on where she will be and when.

Loco Britney....career blinking out like a distant star on a cloudy evening....and she's passing on 10 million dollars...and holding out for 16....more than many people make in a lifetime of hard work, to sit on her certain to swell posterior and voice her completely irrelevant opinion of people in a singing contest. Like so many sports figures, who cannot read their own college diplomas, these people have zero concept of reality, from inside their bubbles.

I think Awake will either sink or swim based on the 2nd episode, which had too much mediocrity about it. The pilot was so strong that the first production episode had to really hold up, and it didn't, so I think it's the 3rd and 4th episodes that will get the plug pulled on it. NBC is fickle, they won't like that it has nothing but location shoots in LA (expensive) and a cast of characters that borders on an ensemble (expensive!) and is a confusing cop drama (passe'), and they'll be quick to pull the trigger on it. Why nurture a show when you can just kill it and replace it with a reality show instead? That's the NBC way.

Oh man, I cannot wait to see Martha on 2 Broke Girls, that should prove to be hilarious, she's a really funny lady in her deadpan way.

AHAHAHAHAHA! Denise Richards in a Lifetime remake of The Blue Lagoon, that's hilarious, you couldn't have written a funnier parody of an unbelievably stupid cable exec misfire... what? You're serious? That's... that's, I don't even know what that is, beyond "a very bad idea all around".

"Spears it too good for the X-Factor and its continual instability." That's the funniest thing I've read all year.

Oh please oh please let Rebounding work for Forte. I love that man so much. And Julie Benz on a SyFy series... poor, poor girl. And damn, I really really need to watch Justified, I love Neal MacDonough. Might even watch a TNT series because of him!

Spears it too good for the X-Factor and its continual instability. She doesn't need another dent in her still-recovering career.

1) I hope TV.com is pursuing some sort of legal action against nuttyrich.com by now.

2) Britney should be headed for the glue factory, not The X Factor.

God, i hope Britney doesn't become a judge, i mean all you'll here is "uhh umm uhh". This is gonna be even worse than Lindsey Lohan's appearance on Saturday Night Live (thanks for ruining the show for all of us) just another idiotic ex-star who's trying to get their fame back.

Seriously 16 million!? wtf is wrong with them? I don't want her to die... just to stay the hell away from TV or anyone at all for that matter

LA Noir, Devious Maids and Defiance sound good, defo gonna check them out (when they make it to air obviously). And I'll give Political Animals a go just for the cast.

'Dexter and No Ordinary Family vet Julie Benz' What about Buffy and Angel?

She was more of a guest star of Buffy/Angel!

Defiance sounds awesome though! Nice to see Syfy actually having science fiction again!

I can't wait for this one!

Julie Benz was mostly a guest star on Buffy/Angel, but she did have a lot of influence on especially Angel's storyline. I mean, it's where I know her from - that probably goes for most people. But let's not nitpick: Julie Benz + scifi!

Why do networks always pit their best shows against other top shows? Is it penis measurement? So they say, some nites are better than others, but so many now just record the shows, so does it really matter? Spread the wealth so on a Saturday were not stuck with just SNL or some other mediocre derivative!!!!

2 Broke Girls, , seriously, does anyone even care about this???

She needs the extra $6 million for her trips to Carl's Jr. in between her trips to Taco Bell.

Now I haven't watched The Xfactor US ever. But if I recall from the UK it is still a singing show right? Doesn't Britney lack the singing part?

Awake, it just isn't my thing. It could have been interesting but my issues with the psychs and now the conspiratorial twist at the end of episode 2. It just isn't going to get me to tune in. Bring back Prime Suspect. So much better.

Good For Will Forte, i have in general liked him in some of his movies and skits on the show. I try not to judge him by his horrible Bush impersonation because he had to follow Will Ferrel who was too good.

I like Julie Benz as well, she was one of the few good things about The Boodock Saints 2. Never watched Dexter.

I am really looking forward to LA Noir, the cast is shaping up nicely. MacDonough is such a great actor.

And Carla Gugino is coming back to TV. Nice. Though I really wish she would have been able to stay in a recurring role on Justified.

how isnt britney spears a good singer? u probably just dont like her so ur hating on her, grow up

Is herropreez14 a euphemism for K-Fed?

No I have listened to her for the past ten years off and on. She isn't a good singer. She is a good performer and celebrity for the most part. But her singing voice just isn't great. Same thing with J lo and an unfortunate number of famous musicians. Their voice is done in the sound booth and is evident when they try to sing live. Which is usually just a recording and they are lip syncing.

Singers such as Christina Aquilera, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Pink etc I can't stand their music either. But they are damn good singers.

So it isn't about hating anyone. I happen to like Britney aside from the time she went crazy. She seems like a good person and has changed her life for the better. But she just can't sing.

Some of us whatever your name is, make and evaluation of things, which consists of comparing evidence at hand and then come by our conclusions. That is what a grown up does, skippy.

I agree, she is not a great singer but a great entertainer. Now everything you said was right until you say Katy Perry a Good singer? really? she is just like Britney, i totally like her music, sure she is catchy, but have you hear her live?. if you were running out of examples of today good singers ( and i can understand why that would happen) you can add Adele, Alicia Keys, Haley Williams to that list.

Katy Perry's pretty autotuned....

You're probably right. I saw her live on Letterman and she wasn't bad. At least she attempted to sing live.
Flag
I was at Rock in Rio and was shocked at how bad she sounded on stage singing live, especially since I've always liked her. Major disappointment...

I've been watching Julie Benz since her Buffy days and I hope she never has trouble getting work. He departure from Dexter was definitely crazy awesome in a sick way but I've been missing her.
