News Briefs: Miley, Katy, Will. I., and Others Are All Potential New American Idol Judges

JUST CRAZY RUMORS NEWS

... Despite recently giving its judges' table a facelift, American Idol is entertaining the idea of adding more new judges. The reality show might be losing Jennifer Lopez next year, and Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson have yet to sign new contracts, so Fox is throwing out some new names. Former Idol contestant Adam Lambert, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Fergie, and will.i.am are all being bandied about as possible replacements. It's nice to see these fine artists finally getting their time in the spotlight. [E! Online]

BUSINESS TIME

... The production company behind the why-is-it-a hit reality series Dance Moms is taking the next natural step and developing a show about moms who breastfeed older children. [NY Post]

... Fox has decided to NOT banish the George Lopez-hosted garbage hour Take Me Out to Saturdays, as it recently said it would, after last week's episode jumped up in the ratings. The show features 30 women vying for the attention of a parade of eligible Ed Hardy-wearing lame-os. Meanwhile, Awake is still canceled. [TV Guide]

... ABC has ordered a cooking show called The Taste hosted by traveling chef Anthony Bourdain and British food star (ha ha) Nigella Lawson. The series is a reality competition show that will feature experts training teams of chefs to make awesome plates of food that you at home won't be able to taste. [Deadline Hollywood]

CASTING NEWS

... Ladies and people who like to write stories about demon-hunting brothers who like to have sex with each other, I have bad news: Supernatural's Sam Winchester (hunky bag of muscle Jared Padalecki) is getting a ladyfriend. Season 8 will see Liane Balaban recur as Amelia, Sam's new squeeze. Balaban was last seen (by me at least) playing Anna in Syfy's Alphas. [TV Line]

... ABC's Once Upon a Time may as well just book the entire Lost cast and call it a day. Now the producers want to make room for Jorge Garcia, who played Hurley on the hit series. They haven't set aside a role for him in the fairy-tale drama, but I think he would be good as Tomorrow Land. [TV Guide]

... The CW's 90210 has booked Carly Rae Jepsen for a guest role next season and I'm so cool I don’t even know who she is. Did I say "cool"? I mean "out of touch." [TV Line]

... Gossip Girl's Serena (Blake Lively) will be macking on 7th Heaven's Barry Watson next season. Watson will recur as a businessman named Steven and will get paid to do what 90 percent of straight males would pay to do, so that's totally fair. [TV Line]

SAD NEWS

... Lionel Batiste, a bandleader for New Orleans' Treme Brass Band, has passed away at the age of 81. He was featured multiple times in HBO's Treme. [USA Today]

Adam Lambert, Miley Cyrus are terrible ideas...the others are not all that compelling either.

But the idea to replace all three judges is a great idea. They can go out on a high since they had probably the best group of singers in Idol history last year. They are unlikely to do better in the future. And they're not getting any younger.

It was a nice break to have three sane and friendly judges...but it's time to to back to the old formula: one cruel judge, one kooky judge and one judge with some street cred.

Damn you ABC. You know I'll check out that Tony Bourdain show.

And RIP Lionel Batiste. New Orleans is a bit dimmer. Survived Katrina on his Bass drum.

The writers of Once are so fond of referencing themselves, I could see Jorge as one of Neverland's "LOST" boys. He's also in the cast of When We Were Pirates, so maybe they're drawing on some of that for a Captain Hook or Smee role.

" It's nice to see these fine artists finally getting their time in the spotlight. " Haha, Tim! You nut.

Is it just me or does this chick Liane Balaban not remind you of Natalie Portman?!

Let's see how long Sam's new love interest lasts until she dies. I still think that Supernatural should stay away from romance and be more focused on hunting and killing things; the family business.

Humpty Dumpty would be a great role for Garcia.

1. I think that Adam, Nicki and Katy would be an interesting mixture of Judges, not that I would watch.

2. Really? The View, The Talk, The Chew, The Revolution, The Taste. What's next The Menopause, oh wait I already said the View, ;)

3. Jorge could play the Giant form Jack and the Bean stock.
