News Briefs: MTV Sets Premiere Dates for Awkward., Teen Wolf

SCHEDULE YOUR TELEVISION

... MTV has announced its summer premiere dates, including the return of the most excellent Awkward.! The high-school comedy will kick off Season 2 on Thursday, June 28 at 10:30pm. It will air after the new Jersey Shore spin-off Snooki & JWoww, which gets a week's head start on June 21 at 10pm. And Teen Wolf will return for Season 2 on June 3 at 11pm. I've embedded a trailer for Snooki & JWoww below in case you hate yourself. [Deadline Hollywood]

... [Read this in Bender's voice:] "I'm back, baby!" Futurama's seventh season will debut on Comedy Central on June 20 at 10pm. But that's not all! There will actually be TWO new episodes that night! Comedy Central has also announced a Live at Bonnaroo comedy special, just in case you want to see what Patton Oswalt acts like on peyote. [TV By the Numbers]

BUSINESS TIME

... ReelzChannel has ordered a second season of Steven Seagal's True Justice! I'm going to take the network's word for it that there was a first season. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Are you a fan of Arrested Development? Are you also not American? Then you're totally hosed! Netflix's revival of the beloved Fox comedy will be confined to the United States only, meaning all you foreigners will have to get it the old-fashioned way and illegally download it. This sounds like a perfect excuse to throw some American propaganda into torrented files of the show. "Why is Gob going on about how Iran is so evil?" —Confused foreigner who downloaded the new episodes of Arrested Development. [National Post

... TLC has done it again. The cable home of sideshows and weirdos has come up with a series that combines two of its favorite topics: pregnancy and obesity. Obese & Expecting will follow heavy ladies as they prepare to give birth. Get ready for lots of false alarms and massive bowel movements. [EW]

... Remember yesterday how I said The L.A. Complex had the worst in-season drama debut for a series ever? Well, it sort of made up for it already. The CW re-aired the pilot, and the second go-round drew more viewers than the first, grabbing 721,000 pairs of eyeballs (versus yesterday's 600,000-something). This makes zero sense, just like the show. [EW]

CASTING NEWS

... Big Love's Chloe Sevigny is in discussions to join the second season of FX's American Horror Story as a character named Shelly the Nymphomaniac. Let's hope she doesn't blow it. Brown Bunny, anyone? Sorry. No more bad jokes. [EW]

... Pretty Little Liars is welcoming The Vampire Diaries actor Sterling Sulieman next season. He'll play Nathan St. Germain, a cousin of Maya's. [TV Guide]

... Betty White will guest-star on Lifetime's The Client List, the sexy show starring Jennifer Love Hewitt as a prostitute at a massage parlor. White will play the mother of one of Hewitt's clients. This should confuse your crotch. Because Betty White is really hot and JLH is so yesterday's news. [People]

Would have been nice to see Good Vibes get a second season, or at least be syndicated on a much better channel. MTV sucks for cancelled one of the greatest cartoons I had ever seen.

What?! No Arrested Development for us poor foreigners? How could they be so cruel? :(

2 new Futuramas?!? I love tv!!!

Arrested Development in the US only? I bet that means there is going to be a global DVD release right after the Netflix premiere.

Ha ha! CW is so awful, it can't program on purpose, only by accident. It turns out all their "successes" are merely the providence of other networks' dropping the ball all at the same time with a key demographic.

Yes!!! I loved Awkward! Clearly the morals were sketchy but what can I say, it was funny! I'm glad it's back, I just hope the season is longer this time. With the way it ended it will be exciting to see what happens next!

You bastards Netflix! How am I supposed to get my Arrested Development fix in non-technically illegal ways! I feel like hiring a one-armed man to teach them a lesson.

I shall agree with the first two posts in that I LOVE "Awkward". What a great idea from such a stupid channel (MTV). In fact, that is the only thing keeping me from calling MTV a complete waste of air time.

As for your "Brown Bunny" joke, I'm ashamed to say I saw that movie. It was really quite bad. I regret spending that time and I would like it back.

How did you not put something in here about Fringe getting renewed?!?!?! :D

lol, why would he need too? He just made an entire news topic about Fringe getting renewed. How would giving it a small blip on the news briefs do it more justice.

As the foremost fake authority of all things Fringe, I rule Homer1338 is correct in this matter.

FINALLY! I love Awkward, and the fact that it's coming on sooner than I thought (I assumed it'd be July again) makes me even happier! And it's following something Jersey Shore related so the first episode will more than likely have really good ratings!
