BUSINESS TIME

... The guys at Psych are the fans-first type, so today they took to Facebook to announce the premiere date for Season 7 via personal video message from stars James Roday and Dule Hill. Oh you want me to tell you because you're still stuck on Friendster? Fine. February 27. [Psych's Facebook page]

... Not to be outdone, Adult Swim's hilarious Eagleheart also used Facebook to announce some news: a third-season order! But technically, star Chris Elliott beat social media to it by announcing it during his appearance on David Letterman last night. Take that, Facebook! Chris Elliott > Facebook. [Eagleheart's Facebook]

... Lifetime is keeping things Lifetime and has renewed Dance Moms for a third season. The show continues to be a beast for the network and will air 26 episodes of psycho moms and tortured children in its next round. [THR]

... The great TV debut of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog on The CW was not what the Dr. Horrible ordered. Hahahahahahaha. Ha. Only 566,000 viewers tuned in for the broadcast debut of Joss Whedon's mini-musical-opus, good for a 0.2 rating in the adult demo. I guess that's a lesson learned: Don't broadcast things that have been free on the internet for years. [EW]

... Hollywood's love affair with itself and blogs crashed head on today when CBS purchased a project based on Lauren Bachelis's Hollywood Assistants Blog. The comedy, titled 20-Nothings, follows five young'uns trying to work their way up the Tinseltown ladder. As far as I can tell, the blog it's based on is just a bunch of GIFs on a Tumblr, so I expect every single hipster kid out there to have a TV show soon! [Deadline Hollywood]

CASTING NEWS

... Neve Campbell (Wild Things) is joining the cast of Grey's Anatomy for a few episodes this season! She'll play one of Derek's sisters! Which one? The one who looks like Neve Campbell! [TV Line]

... Are you ready for American Horror Story: Cocksucker? Ian McShane, who played Deadwood's foul-mouthed Al Swearengen, will guest-star in AHS's second season. Details of his role are unknown, but he will serve as foil to Jessica Lange's deranged nun. [Ryan Murphy's Twitter]

... Jesse L. Martin (Law & Order) will star in the NBC pilot The Secret Lives of Husbands and Wives, about suburban couples and the secrets exposed after a murder rocks their world. Martin will play a fratty financial guy who goes into business with some shady people. [Deadline Hollywood]

... In a bit of bizarre casting, Saturday Night Live alum Molly Shannon will guest on NBC's Hannibal. Apparently the show might not be as dark as we initially thought. In addition to Shannon, creator Bryan Fuller has brought on actress Chelan Simmons to reprise her role as a ditzy former cheerleader from the quirky Wonderfalls. [TV Line]

... Eric Dane, recently cast off Grey's Anatomy (where he played Doctor McSteamy), has landed the lead role on TNT's pilot Last Ship. He'll play the captain of a naval destroyer that survives a nuclear war. I'm taking Last Resort's Captain Chaplin in this battle! [EW]

... In perfect casting news, The League's Paul Scheer will guest-star on Modern Family as a Costco manager. Yes. [THR]

... The Wire and Treme's Clarke Peters has joined the cast of an untitled AMC pilot about a DA who reopens a newsworthy murder case. Peters will play the father of the DA. I love me some Lester Freeman! [Deadline Hollywood]
