SO MUCH CASTING NEWS YOU'LL PUKE

... Scrubs star Sarah Chalke is returning to ABC, if all goes well. Chalke has landed the lead role in the pilot How to Live with Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life, a comedy about a recently divorced mom (Chalke) who moves back in with her parents. Chalke was last seen in a regular role on the short-lived CBS comedy Mad Love. [EW]

... TV.com favorite and general all-around awesome guy Chi McBride (Pushing Daisies, Human Target) has been cast in the CBS pilot Golden Boy. The drama follows a young police officer who shoots up the ranks of the department. McBride will play the rising star's partner. Aww Chi, we want to see you in a comedy! [Deadline Hollywood]

... Aliens, you are TOTALLY F'd. Terry O'Quinn, best known as John Locke from that show you may have heard of called Lost, is joining TNT's sometimes decent Falling Skies. He'll guest-star in two episodes as a mentor to Tom (Noah Wyle), and turn into a plume of black smoke to kill all those skinny aliens. If we're lucky. [EW]

... Andre Braugher, an Emmy nominee for Men of a Certain Age, will headline a new drama pilot from The Shield creator Shawn Ryan. In Last Resort, Braugher plays the captain of a nuclear submarine that goes rogue and forms its own independent nation when it disobeys orders to fire nuclear warheads on American soil. This is the best-sounding pilot of the season. It's like Lord of the Flies but with nukes. [Deadline Hollywood]

... The Goonies star Sean Astin will guest-star on NCIS as a "psychological operations investigator," whatever that is. The episode, scheduled to air in late March, will also feature Jamie Lee Curtis. [EW]

... Everyone loves Joanna Garcia! She's signed on as the female lead in an untitled CBS comedy from Greg Berlanti. In the pilot, a man has a health scare and realizes his best female friend Wendy (Garcia) is "the one." Well, that sounds hilarious! [Deadline Hollywood]

... Starz's Boss has added two to its cast. Sanaa Lathan (The Cleveland Show) is joining the mayor's office as Tom Kane's new chief of staff. Jonathan Groff (Glee's Jesse St. James) will play Kane's new go-to man for advice now that Ezra is out of the picture. [Deadline Hollywood]

... [Slight spoiler alert!] Sendhil Ramamurthy, who once turned into a giant bug in Heroes, is causing jealousy at The Office. He'll guest-star on the NBC comedy as a new love interest for Kelly after she and Ryan break up. [TV Guide]

... Boardwalk Empire has seen the last of Lucy Danziger, as the HBO drama has opted not to pick up naughty actress Paz de la Huerta's contract (she started the series playing Nucky Thompson's weirdo mistress). Recently, de la Huerta has made lots of off-screen headlines for punching people at nighttime hot spots and getting naked. That deserves a raise, not a firing, if you ask me! [TV Line]

SOMETHING OTHER THAN CASTING NEWS

... TLC has ordered a docu-drama called Southie Pride, which follows five women from South Boston as they complain about Paul Pierce's jump shot and New York. [TLC, via press release]
