News Briefs: The Kid from Two And a Half Men Thinks His Show Sucks

AT LEAST HE KNOWS IT NEWS

... Angus T. Jones, the lucky kid who fell into a pile of money when he was cast as the half-man in Two And a Half Men, was captured on video saying that his show is "filth" and generally the worst thing in the world and possibly dangerous to your mental well-being. In a video interview with the religious something-or-other (media outlet? Evangelical viral video crew?) Forerunner Chronicles, Jones said, "If you watch Two and a Half Men, please stop watching Two and a Half Men. I'm on Two and a Half Men, and I don't want to be on it. Please stop watching it and filling your head with filth." Jones reportedly earns more than a third of a million dollars per episode of Two and a Half Men, so he's lining his pockets with a lot of filth. Obligatory Charlie Sheen reference goes here. BRITISH TELEVISION NEWS, CHAPS!

... Downton Abbey, the show so hip that you don't watch it even though you fancy yourself hip, has been officially renewed for a fourth season. Network ITV has ordered eight new episodes and a Christmas special of the Emmy nominee. Jolly good! [Deadline Hollywood]

... The BBC's Sherlock will be delayed while its stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman frolic in the glow of celebrity. Originally due to air next summer, you can now expect the third season of the hit series to run in late 2013 in the U.K. and even later 2013 or maybe early 2014 in the United States. Cheerio, guv'nah! [EW]

BUSINESS TIME

... Singer Beyonce (ask your kids) will direct a feature-length HBO documentary about singer Beyonce's life. I'm sure we'll get a really authentic look at her life. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Lifetime's much ballyhooed biopic Liz & Dick, starring Lindsay Lohan and Grant Bowler as Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, underperformed on Sunday with just 3.5 million viewers. Previous lifetime gems like that one about Drew Peterson drew around 6 million viewers. I preferred that other Lindsay Lohan video I saw called Lindz & Dicks, the biopic of Lindsay Lohan and yeah I'm sure 10 million people have already made that joke already. [TV Guide]

CASTING NEWS

... Girl Meets World, Disney's update on the classic Boy Meets World, has grabbed its two big stars for its pilot, IndianaMom! Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel have signed on to reprise their roles as Cory and Topanga and will be parents to the new star of the show, daughter Riley. [TV Line]

... Wyatt Cenac is leaving The Daily Show, where he's served as a correspondent. His last episode will be December 13. [Vulture]

... Kimberly Williams-Paisley has been promoted from guest-star to "almost regular with a chance to be a full-blown regular "on ABC's Nashville. Williams-Paisley plays Peggy Samper, the "other woman" in Rayna and Teddy's relationship. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Cee Lo Green will be stopping by FX's Anger Management to play a version of himself, so now you have two one zero reasons to watch Anger Mangement. Obligatory Charlie Sheen reference goes here. [TV Line]

I don’t blame him; he is simply voicing his values. I am not happy with many of the jokes on the show either. It has always been kind of low-brow since the start, but the past couple of seasons have been particularly boorish.

The problem is the way he complained about it. Instead of panning his own show like that, he should have made it clear that he is not pleased with some of material on the show. That would have been far less hostile.

Of course it would be even better if he took his concerns to the showrunners directly, but I suspect that he probably already had and was ignored because unfortunately filth tends to sell, which is all that producers are concerned with.

Also, the manner in which he speaks about his faith is not helping his cause either. Talking about “feeding the enemy” and such makes him sound like a religious zealot which people tend to ignore these days. He should choose his wording a little more carefully so that people actually listen to and understand what his issue with the show is instead of writing him off as a cook or cultist.

Loved Boy Meets World; hate Disney Channel sitcoms. This will probably be terrible.

Two and a half men really doesn't even need Angus anymore anyway (he's barely on the show) so it doesn't matter either way. If he's smart he'll stay (if they let him). But it's not as if the show revolves around him much at all, anymore.

well, he's not wrong. horrible show. but that's also a horrible thing to say about the show you're on, be grateful.

good news about Downton Abbey, great show

it makes sense that Sherlock will be delayed, curse you individual outside success!

I loved Boy Meets World, a lot of my ideas about growing up were based on this show because I grew up with it.. but if this spinoff sequel thing is going to Disney Channel it wil SUUUUUCK. If it goes to ABC or ABC Family it may stand a chance.

Angus is a great movie. Angus the person is a weird human being. Don't watch 2.5 men but if he hates it that much, is it the tv contract thats keeping from leaving the show?

GMW. I have mixed feelings but because BMW was like one of my favorite childhood shows ever I'm willing to give it a go. But having Cory without Shawn is like Emily without Nolan, Laverne without Shirley...insert dynamic duo of choice. It just isn't right. And Mr.Feeny!! C'mon now!
-Poor Angus. I feel for this kid a bit. He basically hates being on this show which has only declined over the years and honestly should have ended after Charlie Sheen spazzing out, but he's contractually obligated to be on the thing. Major suck.

the two and a half men kid should be grateful for all the money the show has put in his pocket and if he hated it so much why did he resign his contract plus he should be grateful to have a job in today world.

Given he says he has to work on it, does he have the option to resign? Most contracts don't allow you to just walk. Of course, he could pull a Sheen...

Sad we have to wait so long for Sherlock, but glad that the guys get to do Sherlock AND other roles that come up. They both deserve to continue to have great careers. Excited for The Hobbit! (Though THREE movies? Seriously? The book is way shorter than any one of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. If certain people weren't just stretching it out for money, perhaps Martin would be available for Sherlock sooner?)

Downtown Abbey, still need to watch it!
Girl Meets World could be interesting!

Don't worry Angus, I stopped watching Two and a Half Men way before Sheen jumped on the Crazy train.

I can say something about 'biting the hand that feeds you'... but I wont because he's right. It is a filthy show. Unfortunately, it used to be a funny filth... now it's just filthy filth. For me, it's not just because it's Sheen-less and Kutcher-full, but because the writers have made Jon Cryer's character unbearable to watch.

Two and a half men is pretty much a pron show if you ask me. It's sad when one of the actors is stuck on a show he doesn't want to be on anymore. I like the news about Ben Savage and Daniel fisher I hope the show will be good.

Yeah, I heard about that. :) I've got most of the cast of Boy Meets World on Google Alert and my inbox is getting full. Some other cast members have shown an interest in joining in, but nothing's official. I'm trying to keep the story updated on the Boy Meets World Forum. Check it out, BMW fans!

Danielle Fishel (Topanga) posted a reassuring open letter on Tumbler. Everyone involved with Girl Meets World is dedicating to protecting BMW's legacy while creating a brand new show..

A Boy Meets World reunion is really happening! :D This is either going to be really good or really, really, REALLY bad. It wouldn't be Boy Meets World without Eric. Get him to sign on too!

I suspect Jones' anger has more to do with a possibility that the producers are considering firing him to bring in a younger kid. After all, he's not the cute kid the show started with. If he had to go, he wants to take the show with him. But it has run a longer life than it should have.

I dislike Two And A Half Men, I hate religious fanatics. He's telling the truth about his show, but he'd say the same things about The Office, Modern Family, Arrested Development etc too because that's what his cult wants him to do.
Also, WTF is wrong with this show? First Charlie Sheen and now this kid? Are they hiring mentally unstable? If that's the case, I'M COMING, HOLLYWOOD!

Also, he likes black people. How nice of him!

I don't know about this young man, but believing in Jesus and living your life that way does not make a person a fanatic. Christianity is not a cult; it's a faith. Look up the definition of cult.

I am well aware of what cult means and this group called The Forerunner Chronicles surely fits that description. If you are saying Christian cult groups don't exist, I will agree to disagree.

If he's that unhappy with the character and the show, he should just leave the series, if possible. (That boatload of money they give him per episode helps ease the pain, I bet.) Granted, that would put the-powers-that-be in a bind to find another actor to fill the role or to bring in another character without pissing part of the fans off.

I wonder if the show is such "filth" if he is taking that $350,000 an episode and donating it to charity? or is he just another more-moral-than-you hypocrite getting rich on his own immorality while simultaneously decrying it.

i think he's gonna be "stuck" on the show for a while, seeing as how it's still averaging a 3.5 adults 18-49. CBS will want to keep it around.

The kid is right. The show sucks, and maybe finally the network execs will realize they're in charge of a sinking ship. And I'm crying internally about Sherlock. I'm glad that Benedict and John are both receiving much deserved fame and fortune, but c'mon. 3 episodes is not enough to hold me over for another year.

Obviously not quite as much fame as they deserve though, as 'John' is called Martin :)

He's right, but it's kind of not cool to rag on something you're involved with IMO. Either get out (I assume he's under contract so that's not an option for him) or make it better from the inside.

If people are dumb enough to pay him, I don't blame Angus one bit for cashing in. And him saying it sucks is the smartest thing ever to come out of that show.

I can see where Two and a Half Men is going. They'll find some wacky backstory to send Jake to college, and we'll then be introduced to Ashton Kutcher's character's lost son/nephew/cousin, and the show will go on for at least a couple more seasons.

Shame about Sherlock! they better make it a 6 episodes series 3 then. That's the only consolation i can accept.

So, basically he wants out of the show but can't get out of his contract and would say anything. Obviously, what he says is true, but he has ulterior motives for saying it.

That stinks about the delay for Sherlock. I've watched the first two episodes on Netflix, and while the second episode wasn't quite as good as the first, I still really enjoy this show. They did a great job of updating Sherlock Holmes for modern times, and it's a lot of fun to watch. I have been spacing out the episodes because of the limited number of episodes, as well as the length of the episodes (which kind of makes it feel like they make 3 movies per year), but that's my own choice. It will be painful when I actually join the wait for new content once I catch up with the show.

I feel sorry for Jon Cryer. No, wait, I don't... he's still super rich.
