News Briefs: Unforgettable Shakes Up Its Supporting Cast

... Unforgettable was recently saved from cancellation by CBS and given a 2013 summer return date, meaning it will be a long time until Carrie Wells (Poppy Montgomery) returns to solve crimes with her super-memory. But if you can't remember a few of her coworkers by the time the series comes back, don't worry, they'll be a lot different. Michael Gaston, Kevin Rankin, and Daya Vaidya, who played detectives Mike, Roe, and Nina, respectively, won't be back for the next season, as the show is rejiggering with an off-season makeover. Montgomery, Dylan Walsh, and Jane Curtin have all signed on for Season 2. Now I can really hope that one of my favorite shows books Rankin, because he's awesome. [TV Line]

... Fans of Paget Brewster and her former show Criminal Minds will have a decision to make on September 26. Brewster has booked a guest role on the season premiere of Law & Order: SVU, which airs opposite Criminal Minds. Guess you'll have to buy two TVs for REAL this time. [The Wrap]

... Dexter has signed former Heroes actor Santiago Cabrera (he played that dude who paints the fuuutuuuure!) for a few episodes. He'll play an author of non-fiction crime books who snoops around Miami's many murder scenes. Kill him, Dexter Morgan, and write your own book with his entrails! [EW]

... Ryan Reynolds (I'll give you ladies a minute to catch your breath) will guest voice a character on an upcoming episode of Family Guy. He'll play the son of God who was born before Jesus, another non-conception that didn't work out like the J-man did. Listen for him in the Season 11 Christmas episode. Reynold's abs will voice the Three Wise Men. [EW]

... Supernatural! Dean! Vampire! Ty Olsson (Battlestar Galactica) will return to Supernatural to play vampire Eli, I think. See, he played Eli in Season 2 and is coming back for the Season 8 premiere to play another vampire, but nowhere have I read that he'll play his old character. Maybe the producers think they can just shave off his goatee and we won't notice? Don't they know we're Supernatural fans and WE DON'T FORGET!? [TV Line]

... Lori Loughlin will return to 90210 because she doesn't have anything better going on. [TV Line]

... Terminator star Linda Hamilton will guest-star on Canada's own Lost Girl. Look for her in the tenth episode of Season 3, where she'll play a "sexy, tough assassin." As opposed to those ugly, wimpy assassins you're always seeing on television. [TV Line]

... Hulu is partnering up with the BBC and will air the fourth season of The Thick Of It, the potty-mouthed political comedy from Armando Iannucci (Veep), the same day it premieres in the UK. In addition, Hulu will have the first three seasons on its online video service. This is good news, people! [Deadline Hollywood]

... Baseball gambler and uniform dirtier Pete Rose is getting his own reality show. TLC has ordered Pete Rose and Kiana Kim Family Project, focusing on baseball's controversial all-time hits leader and his Playboy-posing 30-something Asian model girlfriend. Keep up the great work, TLC! [EW]

... If you have DirecTV and you're still waiting to watch The Daily Show or Awkward. or anything else that airs on channels that are part of the Viacom family (MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, and more), you're going to keep waiting. The standoff between the satellite company and the media company is nowhere near being resolved, according to reports. Viacom is asking for higher carriage fees, and DirecTV is like, "No way, dude."
