CASTING NEWS

... Summer Glau *click, click, click* HEY! I wasn't even done yet! Summer Glau, who many websites will refer to as a "fanboy's dream girl" or something like that but I'll just refer to her as an angel who fell to Earth, has set up her next major role. I think. Grey's Anatomy showrunner Shonda Rhimes Tweeted today that Glau will appear on the show as a guest star. No details on her appearance have been revealed, so your best bet is to start camping out wherever Grey's films immediately and bring your tiny pair of scissors so you can snip off a lock of her hair. ... Glee's Lea Michele is really broadening her portfolio and will appear on the Season 2 premiere of The Glee Project. Look for the second season of the reality show, which awards winners with guest stints on the Fox series, to start this summer on Oxygen. [TV Line]

... Starz's upcoming series Da Vinci's Demons, a fictional retelling of the life of Leonardo da Vinci, has cast its Leo. ... True Blood has recast the role of fairy Claude for Season 5. HBO clipped the pixie wings off of Neil Hopkins and stapled them onto the younger Giles Matthey (The Good Wife). Claude isn't expected to be a major character, but will appear in a multi-episode arc. [TV Guide]

EVERYONE WAS READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL NEWS

... Yesterday was championship Sunday, with two NFL games played to determine which two teams will make it to the greatest thing a human being can ever be a part of, the Super Bowl. Some 48.7 million viewers tuned in to watch the New England Patriots edge out the Baltimore Ravens in the early game, and 57.6 million viewers saw an overtime thriller between the San Francisco 49ers and the victorious New York Football Giants. In related news, I packed four pounds of veggie-sausage queso dip into my arteries yesterday. [Deadline Hollywood]

... American Idol capitalized on its big evening audience with a special broadcast of the singing show and grabbed 19.8 million viewers and a 7.9 rating. But that wasn't enough for Fox. Because the 49ers/Giants game went into overtime, the Idol airing was delayed. Because of the scheduling jumble and widespread DVR recording mistakes, Fox is re-broadcasting the episode on Tuesday night in place of a previously scheduled Glee repeat. Now you can watch Jim Carrey's daughter do just enough to get a golden ticket all over again. [Deadline Hollywood]

The Project Runway host and Grammy-winning singer have been married for seven years and have four kids. I'm not saying I had anything to do with it, but... okay, I had nothing to do with it. ☹ [People]
