News Briefs: Wuff! Wuff! Arsenio Hall Is Returning to Late-Night TV

... The last time Arsenio Hall was relevant, kid rappers were wearing their clothes backwards! Well get ready to spin your skinny jeans around because Hall is kinda sorta back in the spotlight again. If all goes right, Hall will host a new late-night talk show on the syndication circuit beginning in the fall of 2013 through CBS TV Distribution. Arseniooooooo won the most recent edition of Celebrity Apprentice, but had been mostly quiet since he hosted The Arsenio Hall Show in the early 1990s. [Deadline Hollywood]

... British celebrity insulter Ricky Gervais took to his blog to say that he's about to have a lot more free time. The busy Gervais said he's probably not going to do a fourth season of HBO's The Ricky Gervais Show and won't make any more episodes of HBO's Life's Too Short and Science Channel's An Idiot Abroad. Instead, he'll use his time to do some standup comedy, a new project involving filmed audiobooks (we call them shows, Ricky), and continue his U.K. show Derek. Lazy! []

... Beck says he's already working with a rapper on the new show, who I'm guessing is MC Gentrification. [NY Daily News]

... Falling Skies returned for Season 2 with expectations high as it proved to be a big hit for TNT last year. Buuuuuut that was then, this is now. The Season 2 premiere drew 4.5 million viewers, which is good, but still down 24 percent from last year's series premiere (a cable-TV best 5.91 million in 2011). [EW]

... Cheyenne Jackson is the latest actor to join NBC's Mockingbird Lane, the reimaginationeering of the classic sitcom The Munsters from Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies). Jackson, who appeared in Glee's second season as the coach of Nude Erections New Directions' rival Vocal Adrenaline and on 30 Rock as Danny Baker, will play a scout leader who gets the hots for Lily Munster (the recently cast Portia de Rossi). ... Regis Philbin will reunite with Kathie Lee Gifford and fill in for a vacationing Hoda Kotb on the Today show this Wednesday. It will be the first time the duo hosted together since 2000 when Gifford left the Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee show. Hope you've been working on your alcohol tolerance Regis, because Kathie Lee drinks like a fish that's a sophomore in college. [EW]

... All five sons of presidential candidate Mitt Romney will join Conan O'Brien on his talk show Conan this Wednesday night. "We're going to need a bigger couch," said one production assistant with an affinity for late-'70s shark attack movies. [NY Times]
