Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, who once blanketed the airwaves with their love on MTV's reality show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, are once again denying rumors that their marriage is in trouble. This time, Lachey is fervently refuting allegations that he cheated on Simpson with the girlfriend of an old high school friend.
In Touch magazine reports that Chad Leslie, a bartender in Cincinnati who is one of Lachey's oldest friends, claims the singer had a fling with his girlfriend, Angela Bartlett. When Lachey was recently in Cincinnati, Leslie says that Bartlett gave Lachey a ride to his hotel and was then unaccounted for for several hours. In the magazine, Leslie claims "Nick and Angela came into the bar where I worked at about 3:30 in the morning. Angela asked for my house keys and said she was going to drop Nick off at the Cincinnatian Hotel, and go back to my place."
Leslie went on to say that when he arrived home at 4:30 a.m., Bartlett was not there, so he drove to the hotel, where he saw Bartlett's car parked outside. Leslie called Bartlett's cell phone, which went unanswered. Later, Leslie says he asked Bartlett to tell him what happened in the room: "She said they opened a bottle of wine and Nick tried to kiss her, but she pushed him away. Obviously, she was trying to hide something. She was in that room for an hour and a half, not answering my calls."
This is the second time that Lachey has been forced to deny rumors of marital infidelity. In September, Star magazine reported that Lachey met 19-year-old college student Danielle Calo, and used his bodyguard to invite her back to his Columbus, Ohio, Embassy Suites hotel room. Danielle told Star, "Nick arrived wearing sweatpants. He seemed really down to earth."
In recent weeks, the couple has been increasingly defensive about the status of their marriage, issuing multiple press releases indicating that things are fine. Star reports that Joe Simpson, Jessica's father/manager, is in damage-control mode and attempting to keep the couple together, at least in the public eye. To that end, the couple appeared together at London's Heathrow Airport on October 7 to shore up their flagging "brand."
On October 13, Star reported that Lachey had been sleeping on a friend's couch for a week. The same day, The Dallas Star-Telegram asked jokingly, "Why is MTV already running commercials for Newlysingles: Nick & Jessica?"
On Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, MTV cameras filmed the couple going about their busy days, which included shopping and riding in limos to Midwestern mall appearances. Periodically, Lachey would attempt to plant trees in the yard of their Southern California home. Often poignant and hilarious, the series portrayed the couple as the quintessential American sweethearts, spouting guileless proclamations of affection for each other. If the marriage dissolves, it may give future pop-culture icons second thoughts about the wisdom of having cameras film every moment of their daily lives.

I know it's hard to stay out of others peoples lives beacuse it brings your focus away from yourself. and it's just so damn fun! They need to split up so Jessica can be free and run her life withou worrying about her deadweight husband. Who by the way doesn't seem to be happy for her in the least.

People go 'Oh, Jessica is so ugly', but I diagree. More than half the people who say this are jelous, and the other people really mean it.<br />
I think she's beautiful and young. Im not a fan of hers, and I dislike her singing but I have nothing against her. I hate the fact that she sometimes acts stupid in the episodes of her Reality Show with Nick, and sometimes it seems like she doesnt want to interfere with something her husband is doing, even if she feels uncomfortable towards it.

I don't think Nick and Jessica r really having problems or r going to get a divorce. I think that some paparrazi&reporters have been getting things mixed-up. If u have ever watched the Ashlee Simpson Show u would see how in love they r w/ each other. U can tell that Nick adores Jessica's family. If u have ever watched The Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, u would see even when they get mad at each other they can turn it around. All they need is for everyone to stay out of their business, so if there is anything wrong they can fix. People that keep spreading rumors about them, just keep making it worse. so, if u want them to stay out of the public's eye, I would totally agree with u. Just sign the papers and leave. I am so tired of Jessinick. She, as much as I don't care for, is moving up in her career. Being a *** in Hollywood does constitute a career, believe it or not. Whereas Nick's memories of C-list fame of fronting a boy band are all in the past. They will divorce, she will become more and more sleazy, pose for Plaboy, and eventually lose herself in plastic surgery while he will be part of the cast of Surreal Life 10.
