Nip/Tuck unmasks FX record

The third-season finale of Nip/Tuck carved out record ratings for FX on Tuesday.

The two-hour episode, which aired at 10 p.m., drew 5.7 million total viewers, making it the most-watched episode ever of any FX original series. The finale revealed the identity of the Carver, a masked serial slasher whose identity was under wraps the entire season.

Nip/Tuck also drew 3.9 million in the 18-49 demographic; no other cable series has generated that large an audience this year. The haul also enabled Nip/Tuck to rank as the number one original cable series in the demo.

The episode also repeated strongly at midnight, bringing in a cumulative audience of 7.3 million on the night.

Despite switching its scheduled run from the summer--where it spent the past two seasons--to the more competitive fall period, Nip/Tuck managed to best its season averages in total viewers (3.9 million) and 18-49 (2.7 million) by 100,000 viewers in both categories over last year.

I wonder what the ratings are for Ireland and the UK? It's on the same time as ER, and Lost, but I watch this over them every week :)

personally, i enjoy watching this show. It reminds me of the dark side of the world. For the revelation of the Carver, i must admit that Quentin was too bvious so i was not shocked. It could be Sean. If you consider how many evil things he has encounter, he has every right to be a carver. Anyways, Nip Tuck is a very smart show and i want it to last forever..

Am I the only one who thought all the "arresting" antics of Rhona Mitra's policewoman character towards the end of the season were just bordering on the ridiculous? I mean, how many people did she arrest on suspicion of being the Carver? Yes, I understand the reason so many wrong people were arrested having seen the end of the final episode, but surely other police officers were involved in deciding who to arrest? Especially since all the evidence against the wrongly accused seemed to be weak and circumstantial.

I'm glad that this season of Nip/Tuck brought in such high ratings. I also hope that all the people who watched the end of this season go back & watch the 1st 2 seasons, which I still think were better than most of this 3rd one. I'm looking forward to the next season.

This show always made me shocked after the credits roll at the end of each episodes!

And it shows us the real deal about how a season finale must be at the end of each seasons!
