Noah Wyle first appeared on medical drama ER in the first episode 15 years ago, playing student doctor John Carter. Now, six weeks before the show reaches its conclusion in the UK, he's back with more experience --and a dark secret.
The star's homecoming is the first of many in the coming weeks, with his character's resurrection leading to returns from George Clooney, Juliana Marguiles and Eriq La Salle who will again play Doug Ross, Carol Hathaway and Peter Benton respectively.
Doctor Carter makes his way back to County General in search of a job but it soon becomes apparent that there's another reason he's returned -- a pivotal plot in the final few episodes.
Meanwhile this episode, Banfield tries to convince her husband to try a new method to allow them to have a child, while Neela performs surgery on a young girl's mother.
The episode, entitled The Beginning of the End, has been given an average score of 9.2 by international TV.com users and has been described as "a very special episode."
The Beginning of the End airs on More4 this Thursday, April 23, at 9pm. The Emmy award-winning drama will reach its conclusion in the UK this June.
