O'Donnell, LL Cool J rumored for NCIS spin-off

CBS has an easy lay-up with its upcoming spin-off of NCIS, but there is still some business to attend to before the ratings start piling in. The network has begun courting stars to headline the show, and the first rumors coming in place Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J at the top of the list.

According to EW.com, O'Donnell and LL are currently in negotiations to star in the untitled series, which will get its wheels in motion later this year. The plan is to introduce the new NCIS team in an episode of NCIS this season and likely branch them out next fall.

O'Donnell (Scent of a Woman, Batman & Robin) is looking to fill the role of Callen, a man who can change personas in an instant. Rapper-turned-actor LL Cool J (In the House) is gearing up to play a former Navy SEAL.

Do you think these are the right choices for this highly anticipated project?

Those are good decisions considering they have good chemistry, and that the show is in its third season.

As hard as I try, I just can't seem to get into NCIS. I'm a fan of both LL Cool J and Chris O Donnell so I would watch the spin off.

it needs to be set in Hawaii. that way Tom Selleck could head up the unit. when Magnum ended he had reenlisted in the navy, so it would be perfect. Both shows were also created by Donald Bellisario. Also Roger Mosley still lives in Hawaii so every once in awhile Magnum just might have to look up his old friend for help. Alex O'Laughlin, from Moonlight, would be a great addition.he could be the Tony of the new unit

Hey cookie monster man, Chris O'Donnell, NOT Jerry O'Connell. Know the difference. JAG was excellent, NCIS IS excellent, and so I believe this spin-off will be too. Can't wait.

ok i just have to say it what is with "a man who can change personas in an instant"? really? i agree with all that are skeptical about this new spin off. i personally don't think they should make one because NCIS is good just the way it is and they should leave it alone. the people they have chosen or are considering also make me skeptical. i will however tune in to the first episode possibly if it seems like any good, but if not then i won't.

unless LL Cool J becomes like Ice-T's character on SVU, i can't myself taking his character anywhere near serious on the show!

I like LL. He's proven himself as a really good actor so I'll give him a shot. We need more minorities in lead roles, especially on CBS. Jerry O'Connell SUCKS. Every show he's in ends up canceled. If he's in it, I won't watch.

I love NCIS but this spinoff needs a character like Gibbs to pull it off

LL in this type of role should prove interesting...Definitely a different type of image for him. Should be cool.

I love NCIS and I think LL is a great choice. Loved his character in Deep Blue Sea. But O'Donnell I'm not sure about. He's too 'pretty-boy' in all of his roles. He needs to be cast in something gritty to establish some credentials the way Leo DiCaprio did with Blood Diamonds and The Departed. Until then... I don't care for him much.

"A man who can change personas in an instant"? That sounds kind of corny.I don't have a problem with the actors so much as I have with that concept.

Not too sure about LL, but he did do a good part in "Mindhunters", so I'd expect him to do the same, Chris' acting on the other hand, if it is anything like he pulled off in "The Company", then sign me up for a weekly fix of emmm... well whatever they end up naming the show

they shouldnt do an spinoff of NCIS is it perfect the way it is and Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J are kind of random people to play the roles you never know though it might be good but id rather that they just leave it alone personally i think once CSI started doing different versions it was bad hopefully NCIS doesnt go in that direction

I thought the NCIS spinoff was gonna be good, but seriously? LL Cool J? He hasn't been good in anything he's done since... oh wait, NEVER! Chris O'Donnell would be good though. He would really bring something to the show.

LL? Seriously? Why would they pick him? Wow, I love NCIS but I'm not happy with their decision. I'll still watch and see if it's any good, but I'm skeptical. Who knows, NCIS was a spin-off and it's great so maybe it's spin-off will be great too.
