We're down to single digits in the great singing pageant known as American Idol. The country's citizens turned out in record numbers to vote on the final 10 contestants performances of Motown hits, and in the end the one eliminated was…
…Michael Sarver of Jasper, Texas. Sarver sang The Temptations' "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" on Wednesday, but never got around to the actual begging that could have swayed voters. Scott McIntyre and Matt Giraud were the other two contestants in last night's bottom three.
Fox says a record-setting 36 million votes were cast by viewers, considerably more than previous weeks' tallies.
The network also announced that next week's results show will feature performances by last year's American Idol champ David Cook and singer Lady Gaga.
