One more American Idol falls

We're down to single digits in the great singing pageant known as American Idol. The country's citizens turned out in record numbers to vote on the final 10 contestants performances of Motown hits, and in the end the one eliminated was…

Michael Sarver of Jasper, Texas. Sarver sang The Temptations' "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" on Wednesday, but never got around to the actual begging that could have swayed voters. Scott McIntyre and Matt Giraud were the other two contestants in last night's bottom three.

Fox says a record-setting 36 million votes were cast by viewers, considerably more than previous weeks' tallies.

The network also announced that next week's results show will feature performances by last year's American Idol champ David Cook and singer Lady Gaga.

Did the voters get it right? Should Megan or Scott have been eliminated instead? Don't forget to participate in TV.com's American Idol Fan Poll!

Michael Sarver had been in the bottom three the previous week as well, and obviously wasn't long for the show. Megan Joy wasn't even in the bottom three. She's on Vote for the Worst and so that'll probably keep her floating for at least another episode or two.

Sorry! I don't know Lady Ga Ga. As for Michael, they don't come any nicer, but I was not surprised he left. I WAS only surprised it wasn't Megan or Scott.

Hey, just noticed that no one ever links Lady GaGa to her TV.com guide. I'm the editor and would like people to know that her guide does exist. Thanks ;)
