One Tree Hill Welcomes Back One of Its Original Stars

Chad Michael Murray is returning to the show that made him a household name, and will reprise the role of Lucas Scott in a guest appearance on a future episode of One Tree Hill. Rest easy. He’s as svelte as ever. [The CW, via press release]

… The (boring, headache-inducing) VMAs proved a ratings powerhouse for MTV, with 12.4 million viewers tuning in. That’s the biggest audience ever for the music video awards show, which is somewhat hard to swallow, seeing as the network stopped making music videos in 1998. (Seriously. Tipper Gore got them banned in Congress and everything.) The Jersey Shore episode that led in drew a big rating, too: 8 million total viewers, up 40 percent from last year’s similar lead-in episode. In other news, the National Enquirer claims to have located The Situation’s real birth certificate. He’s a 58-year-old former gym teacher from Myrtle Beach. [THR, THR]

… Confirming rumors that Bravo would milk sensitively handle the subject of Russell Armstrong’s suicide for ratings its grief-stricken audience, an hour-long special devoted to the tragedy has already been shot. Lisa Vanderpump, Camille Grammer, Kyle and Kim Richards, and Adrienne Maloof will all appear in it. Taylor Armstrong will not. [EW]

Men of a Certain Age, TNT’s paean to paunchy pals past their prime, has given up hope of finding a new home. Co-creator Mike Royce told fans on the “Save Men of a Certain Age” Facebook page: “I have to tell you that we’ve kind of reached the end of the road. Hard to admit, but it’s true.” [TVLine]

Judy Greer—yes THE Judy Greer of Miss Guided fame—has been cast as Ashton Kutcher’s ex-wife on Two and a Half Men. Distraught over their breakup, Ashton’s character buys Charlie’s house and convinces “Alan and Jake to stay there with him, with Alan serving as his love mentor.” Is Alan the guy Jon Cryer plays? If so, Ashton’s screwed! LOL! [EW]

Jason Dohring, a.k.a Logan Echolls from Veronica Mars, has joined the cast of Ringer. You drive a hard bargain, Ringer! [E! Online]

… The Absolutely Fabulous reunion is officially official! Three specials are in the works, which will “reunite the Patsy and Edina characters with Edina’s daughter, Saffy (played by Julia Sawalha), and assistant, Bubble (Jane Horrocks)” for a “life-changing experience for one—which affects them all.” The specials will be co-produced by BBC America and Logo, and aired on both networks. Cheers, sweetie. [NYT]

I stopped watching OTH last season, but I might have to watch the one where Chad Michael Murray comes back. Now, if only we could get Burton back, too...

The argument for the new season of Two and a Half Men It's incredibly lame and stupid. Couldn't Ashton be a bastard son of Charlie, who inherits the house after his death with the condition to let Alan and Jake stay? Buying the house and taking Alan as "love mentor" might just be the most stupid idea of all time.

Logan from Veronica Mars!!!! I will definitely give Ringer a chance, I was already going to because of Buffy loyalty but now I have another reason.

The OTH news is really bittersweet for me I am really excited for more Chad/Lucas but with no Hillary/Peyton and only for an episode how good can it be. I am really excited for more Jason though I have been missing that boy ever since VM was cancelled!

A Jersey Shore episode gets 8 million viewers and Men of a Certain Age gets cancelled. Dear America, I hate you.

Didn't Judy Greer already player a character on Two and a Half Men? I believe she was Alan's ex-wife's husband's sister, who slept with Charlie for a bit. Is that character going to be Kutcher's ex-wife... or do you think she's playing a whole different character? And the "buying Charlie's house WITH Alan and Jake" seems really stupid. I've never been a BIG fan of the show, but this sounds horrible.

Not only Chad...bring Hilarie back too!!! If the WHOLE last season had Chad+Hilarie back on it would be a perfect ending for this great show!!

If not for the the whole last season, then..the 2-3 last episodes is a must for the whole cast to be back together......as the started the show!

Ashton's character buys Charlie's house and convinces "Alan and Jake to stay there with him, with Alan serving as his love mentor." - That has to be the most unbelievable way to introduce Ashton as the new lead character, while keeping Alan and Jake a part of the show. That has about as much plausibility as Charlie getting into serious debt with a Mexican drug cartel, not being able to pay, consequently murdered in a hail of gunfire, with Charlie's debt being transferred to Alan and Jake. Distraught(not really) and strapped for cash, they decide to take on a rich and gullible roommate(Ashton) and charge him an exorbitant $20,000 a month. . . . Actually, knowing Charlie, that has more plausibility than the bullshit the Two and a Half Men writers have come up with.

That is great news about CMM returning to OTH, It was a mistake to drop him in the first place, Now if only they'd done it sooner the show might still be enjoyable!
