Paris Hilton, hotel heiress and self-made celebrity, tells Newsweek magazine that she will retire from the limelight in two years. Hilton told Newsweek: "I thought it was cute to play a dumb blonde. On TV, I do it because it's funny. I consider myself a businesswoman and a brand."
In the past several weeks, Hilton has seen an even greater amount of media exposure than usual. She recently got engaged to shipping heiress Paris Latsis, and she pronounced that she wanted to become a mother right away. Prior to that, she was at the center of controversy over a sexy Carl's Jr. commercial. In addition, Paris and her mother, Kathy, were grand marshals at the Los Angeles Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual & Transgender Pride Parade.
In 2002, Hilton, alongside best friend Nicole Richie, became a star of the Fox reality show The Simple Life. Hilton also appeared in a steamy pornographic video shot by a then-boyfriend, which subsequently leaked onto the Internet. In 2005, she made her film debut in a remake of the horror film House of Wax.
Even though Hilton will retire from public life, expect the Hilton brand to continue.
