Actor Patrick Swayze is dead at age 57 after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Swayze rose to fame in 1987 when he starred opposite Jennifer Grey in Dirty Dancing, a film that displayed his talent and formal training in dance. He also starred in 1990's Ghost, a from-the grave love story with Demi Moore. That same year, Swayze hosted a memorable episode of Saturday Night Live, during which he performed the Chippendales skit with Chris Farley.
Later in his career, Swayze had small roles in films like Tall Tale and Donnie Darko before making the switch to television. His A&E; show, The Beast, was cancelled in June after one season. The network denied Swayze's illness as the cause.
