Don't believe your eyes--everything is A-OK with Paula Abdul.
Last week, entertainment news shows and Web sites were buzzing about videos of Abdul on various news and talk shows, acting erratically and slurring her words. Video clips on YouTube--which have since been removed--showed Abdul appearing to fall asleep while in the midst of an interview.
Now, Abdul is trying to set the record straight.
"I've never been drunk," she told The New York Times. "I'm not under the influence of anything. The first five years [of Idol] no one said anything about how I behaved or how I talked."
Last year, Abdul drew notice for appearing disoriented on several episodes of the show. The "Forever Your Girl" singer began making esoteric comments on-air during Idol, and reports surfaced that she was taking prescription medication and had showed up late to work several times.
In March of last year, Abdul drew criticism after she breached Burbank airport security and snuck onto a Southwest Airlines flight.
This time out, Abdul says she was fatigued doing so many TV spots. Confusion arose during the TV interviews because she had audio feeds from two separate TV stations coming into her earpiece.
"I didn't know I had two studios in my ear. I wish it were a better story, but that's it."
Idol returned last week with its sixth season premiere. The two-night, four-hour event scored huge numbers--the Sunday-night episode earned some of the highest ratings the show has ever seen, second only to the show's season-three finale. Abdul is slated to star in her own Bravo reality show, titled Hey, Paula.

Well if she wasn't drunk or stoned last week, she was definately on something this week Jan. 24th. Take a good look at your replays before Simon showed up...she was definately not straight and had no idea how to make her own decisions. I think she is nothing on the show unless Simon is around cause all she is good for is critisizing him and to call him an a hole on tv for no particular reason. In all the time I watched this show I have lost respect for her tonight after that. Yes Simon can be an A at times, especially while in Seattle to that poor boy who he called an animal of some sort from the wild...but I have to agree it was a circus show that day. A lot of freaks. However, I think Simon knows his music alot more than Paula. She just seems to be going with the flow. Replace her with Carol. She's old news and a has been.moreless

I am sure she will be more careful about her medication since people are catching on.
Dealing with Simon all day will do that to a person and prenteding not laugh at his cruel remarks then laughing behind the contestants back when they leave can do that to you too.
I think the re-entry to fame has gone to her head. She thinks she is cute but she is old and out of date.
LIke a 44 year old acting like a teen groupy to Simon cowell. Trying to impress him or get on his goodside or maybe more.

Okay, everyone defending her....did you see the clip? Personally, I have no feelings about her one way or the other. I don't watch American Idol. But I saw the clip of her interview and sorry, her story is not flying. She was definitely on something.

Paula looks good for being 44, she seems coherent to me, but then again what do I know.
People are always so quick to make a story out of nothing! They need to leave Paula alone! However, I am not looking forward to her reality show.
People now a days judge very harshly, it seems like almost immediately. I honestly thought she looked very very tired, because I work very hard and take care of my family and have other responsibilities that limits my amount of sleep. I know what it feels like and what you act like when you're extremely tired.

If I was a judge I'd be constantly drunk, having to hear those terrible singers all day. BUT I think people should shut the hell up...I hate Hollywood gossip crap. It doesn't effect you. Get over it.
