People's Choice Awards nominees announced

House's Hugh Laurie.

The people have spoken, and they love House, Heroes, and American Idol. The 35th Annual People's Choice Awards has revealed its lengthy list of nominees, and it's full of small-screen favorites.

Lawyers are nowhere to be seen in the TV Drama category, with medical shows House and Grey's Anatomy going up against procedural CSI. Voters played it safe in the comedy category, surprisingly overlooking NBC's Thursday-night lineup entirely and opting instead for Samantha Who?, Ugly Betty, and Two and a Half Men.

Elsewhere, voters singled out Grey's Anatomy's Patrick Dempsey, House's Hugh Laurie, Two and a Half Men's Charlie Sheen, Samantha Who?'s Christina Applegate, Brothers & Sisters' Sally Field, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit's Mariska Hargitay as their favorite TV stars.

The 35th Annual People's Choice Awards will be broadcast live (tape delay on the West Coast) on January 7 on CBS. Queen Latifah will host the ceremony, which will be held at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium. Voting is now under way at the show's official Web site, and those who vote will be eligible for a trip for two to watch the event in person.

I love Samantha Who, I'm so excited to see both the show and its fabulous star up here...and House/Hugh Laurie too, not that it's any surprise. Other votes of mine would go to Heroes, Privileged, and since I haven't seen any of the guest appearances, Luke Perry all the way, just because...

Sad to say that for the favorite sci-fi/fantasy show Heroes will win due to its overhyped stupidity. Supernatural outweighs Heroes in every aspect from storyline - Characters! URGH naive people. Supernatural is one of the greatest shows on TV today

I would like to think that Hanna Montana does exemplify young females in a positive light to millions of American girls. However, I must admit that her recent comments to invite the Obama girls to be featured on her program, makes me wonder if her motives are sincere, or if is she just concerned about being eclipsed by two younger and more polished children who are now in the national spotlight? I sense in her recent remarks about them coming on her show, reflects that she id worried about sharing her fan global base. From her recent photo shoots and "publicity stunts" I would encourage Miley to find out what charm school the Obama daughters attend and immediately enroll in it. Obviously I sense that she is threatened as celebrity and I am sure that she has tainted her own image and needs someone other than those who validated this misbehavior and other subsequent "parentally supervised misdeeds", to give her some direction in redeeming herself as a young lady celebrity. My major concern is that from my grandmotherly perspective, I would now be more comfortable if my grandchild threw away her Hanna Montana paraphernalia, and went shopping with me for things that are being marketed for the Obama daughters. They, in my opinion project a more childlike innocent and dignity that sets them apart from obsessed Hanna Montana emulators. I do look forward to the change that these young ladies images are bringing to the children of the world. Change is good.moreless

Nice to see Supernatural being talked about by people other than its fans. Heroes better not win that award, or it will cement my opinion that those award shows are all about whose got the best publicity, and nothing to do with talent (in which case Terminator and SN should be going head 2 head.)

  • nknh
