Girls' Allison Williams Will Play Peter Pan in NBC's Live Production

This is what happens when Kristen Bell is busyGirls star Allison Williams has been cast in the title role of NBC's Peter Pan Live!, the network announced Wednesday.

In addition to singing talent, expect to see Williams exhibit some truly "dynamic flying" in the December 4 telecast, according to the official press release.

"Allison Williams is a major find," executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a statement. "She will reinvent the iconic role of Peter Pan with her wit, her warmth, her dynamic flying, and her wonderful musical abilities.  The score will be sung beautifully and introduced to a whole new generation of families."

"I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true," Williams said. "It's such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I'm very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team. What could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting, and singing?"

NBC's chairman Robert Greenblatt added that Williams "will bring the perfect blend of 'boyish' vulnerability and bravado to save the day against Christopher Walken's powerful Captain Hook."

"She'll reinvent the iconic role of Peter Pan with her...dynamic flying"

This suddenly got creepy.

My first Peter Pan was Mary Martin, even though I was born in the mid 80s, so this seems right to me. Male actors playing Pan always seemed off.

Why not get a male to play a male character? This is just my opinion but I'm sure there are plenty of young males who could play this role. I'll be skipping this.

Allison Williams seems like a solid choice for a role he's dreamed about since childhood..he'll do a fine job as the lead male actor in this production and show off his dynamic flying ability. Oh...wait....this is a late April Fool's joke, right? NBC getting the interns to spoof the media, right? Right?

I don't watch Girls so I have no idea who Allison Williams is except isn't she the daughter of Brian Williams from NBC? Anyway I'll reserve judgement until I actually see the production.

Peter Pan was always historically played by a woman.

Which in itself, made absolutely no sense other than possibly wanting an experienced actor who didn't resemble a grown man, which just sounds like lazy paranoia from producers and directors.
