Prepare Your Stomachs: Fear Factor is Returning

... NBC is bringing back Fear Factor after half a decade off the air. There's no word on a premiere date, but considering it's a reality show that only requires a few cameras and a bag of mealworms, it shouldn't take that long to bring back. The show, which sees contestants perform gross-out tasks such as eating bugs or test their nerves by subjecting themselves to vertigo-inducing stunts, is basically a parade of nauseating sequences. Just like the rest of NBC's programming. Thank you, I will be here all week. [EW]

... Remember when we told you that Fox was in talks with Jane Lynch (of Glee) to host the Emmys? We were totally making that up. But we can formally report that now that she has been named the host, so no harm no foul, right? [Deadline Hollywood]

... Uh-oh, did you order that cake in the shape of Denis Leary's face for your Rescue Me final season premiere party on July 12? Better push it back a day; FX has moved the premiere of the final season to July 13. [THR]

... Chelsea Handler is beginning to make a larger splash on TV, so naturally she thinks she's too big for the network that made her a celebrity. Handler says she's ready to move on from E! and her show Chelsea Lately to focus on new things, because she wants "to utilize [her] brain." Which makes total sense if you've seen the clips of her upcoming NBC sitcom Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea. (I was being sarcastic. The new show looks horrible.) [THR]

... NBC will give you more The Voice, and you will like it. The network is adding two more episodes of its new hit on June 22 and June 29 because it's the only show the network makes money on. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Better off Ted funny woman Andrea Anders will be joining USA's new show Necessary Roughness. She'll play the PR executive of a sports team that's in dire need of an image makeover. [TV Line]

... Eliza Dushku is starring in the new Torchwood! Well, the animated online one, anyway. [EW]

I hate this stupid show - it's as bad as Curb Your Enthusiasm! Just the sound of it coming on grinds my nerves. I'd rather watch reruns of Big Valley. I know the people who decide what shows are going to air have got to have better taste... Dump the Fear Factor - If it wasn't for Law & Order I wouldn't even watch NBC !!!!!!!

Once it was a novelty, twice it is abusive. Bring back one of the good cancelled shows instead. Against Fear Factor I even prefer any of the bad ones.

NBC, why not bring back a scripted show or give a new series an honest shot instead of bringing this gross "reality" show back from the TV graveyard. I honestly don't want to see people eating disgusting concoctions or sticking their hand in a jar of scorpions. "Must see TV" are shows that don't make me want to vomit.

Better Off Ted was hilarious, and Andrea Anders was great on it. I like the USA network, so I watched the trailer for Necessary Roughness a few weeks ago -- it looks... okay. I guess she'll make it a tad better, but I don't have high hopes for it. Also, I used to like Fear Factor, so I don't mind it coming back, but it might not work as well without Joe Rogan -- the show had an edge to it with Rogan that made it cooler than all these other happy-go-lucky/soft reality/game shows.

I just started watching Chelsea Lately about a month ago. If that goes, the only show I'd probably watch on E! would be The Soup. Or maybe E! could just insert a comedienne to chair a roundtable based on magazine articles and conduct five-minute interviews, rendering Handler a female version of Craig Kilborn.

Gah, nevermind. I just read an article that says it will be "softer". Lame!

If Rogan is back, I am back.

I wonder if Joe Rogan will be back as host of FF? I kinda hope not, cos then Mike Goldberg will have free reign over the UFC commentaries, and he's, simply put, awful at it. Apart from FF and Eliza Dusku, I don't know any one, or any show, that is on this list.
