Psst! ABC3 needs more kids hosts!

Kim Dalton and Nathan Bazley on ABC3.

A nationwide audition call has been issued by the ABC for new television hosts for its new kids' channel, ABC3. The channel will launch by the end of the year offering loads of new programs aimed at 6- to 15-year olds.

To apply for the positions, you must at least have HSC or its equivalent and complete a lengthy application form (they want to know stuff like "what makes you laugh out loud?", "What makes you tick?") and send along photos and a video of yourself on DVD.

On offer are loads of chances to live it up with adventurous opportunities, mingle with celebrities, chat with comedians, and basically bring loads of entertainment to the kids of Australia.

"We're looking for people with big personalities, who have got what it takes to impress and are up for a challenge," said director of Television Kim Dalton. "Whether you live in Port Hedland or Port Fairy, if your stories make people laugh, then this could be your big break, and I encourage everyone to apply."

When it launches, ABC3 will deliver kids programming from 6am – 9pm. Some of the new shows will include Dead Normal, a 13-part drama series, which follows the adventures of three beautiful, strong-willed, outrageous teenage sisters ... who just happen to be ghosts.

Then there is Dance Academy, which follows six teenage dancers who have one year to prove they've got what it takes after winning a place at the National Academy of Dance. Impressively, this is a 26-part drama to take place in Sydney.

Also coming is the 52-part animated series, CJ the DJ. At 13, CJ can spin discs like no-one else, mix and scratch tracks like a pro, but nobody wants to know. With her spiky hair and spikier attitude, CJ is little Miss Alternative struggling in a sea of normality.

There are also more dramas, music, news and current affairs, adventure, wildlife, quiz shows, comedies and Indigenous programs. It's a great reason to upgrade to digital television.
