Pushing Daisies in danger of cancellation?

What happened to the flower power at ABC? Pushing Daisies, the critical favorite that turned primetime television upside-down, may be the latest show to be on the short side of a television executive's grievous error. With production on the series' initial 13-episode order due to end on November 12, the lack of a full-season pickup has Daisies fans and cast members thinking the touch of death is near.

Wilting Daisies?

Pushing Daisies is part of ABC's Wednesday-night block, which has been one of the season's more puzzling disappointments. Private Practice, Dirty Sexy Money, and Pushing Daisies are all down in the ratings department, and no one seems to know why. Nevertheless, Private Practice received a full-season pickup about a week ago, but word on both Daisies and Dirty Sexy is still mum.

Kristen Chenoweth, who plays fan favorite Olive Snook, is concerned about the show's future.

"It looks like we could possibly not be getting picked up. We have not gotten our order for the back nine [episodes] yet," Chenoweth told The National Ledger. "We finish November 12, and if we don't get any more news, then that means we're done. We just don't know what's going on. It's the not knowing that is driving everybody crazy. We're still doing our show and keeping positive, but I think deep down people just want to know."

What Daisies has going against it is the show's high production values; it isn't a cheap show to make. And with the economy sluggish (and that's a euphemism), ABC has to take a business-first approach. On the other hand, critics and executives are high on the program, so it's really a case of cross your fingers and wait and see.

An online petition has been started that currently has more than 14,000 signatures on it. If you're a fan, we highly recommend signing up.

Whats going on with all Daisies' competition?! Bones is moving...Lost is taking over PD's spot on Wednesdays in Jan...so I guess the Pie Holers are moving...and now they are saying Knight Rider isn't doing as well as they hoped. I am now worried about where it'll end up on the schedule!

NOOOOOO! I love this show! Maybe the reason why it doesn't really get much ratings is because it competes with really big and seasoned shows...like oh say, America's Next Top Model.

There is nothing that can be done at this point, despite the effort of the fans it does not lie with us. The choice is not ours, it is up to the execs at ABC.

Five days... looks like this revolting travesty is unavoidable :[

Fox has moved Bones out of the competition timeslot from January....although it'll probably be way too late for Daisies.

It's KILLING me! I'm having a hard enough time waiting for 2 weeks for new eps...let alone if there are no more to look forward to!

I never got into this show. I find it hard to believe that ABC is unaware of the huge fanbase behind this show though I guess they think that Nielsen ratings say otherwise. The Nielsen families just aint watching which is a bummer. ABC should at least give this show some time to wrap up all of this storylines with good measure.

It may be ominously indicative that we had "DWS" this week and the CMAs next week. That's far too long to go without pie, guys.

Still no news either way....I want this show to continue much much more than I could ever put into words! Just the prospect of a musical ep is something worth keeping it around for!
Not to mention just how good EVERY ep is normally. This show rarely if ever, dissapoints!

i dont watch this, and i heard its good. but cmon look it the good shows on television dont get 22 million viewers, the basicc shows like CSI where you dont have to watch it every week get that. People just dont have the time every single week to watch the same show... and if they cant understand what is happening, they stop watching it. I bet u this show as about 4 more million fans than the actual amount it gets on a wednesday night.

The petition could get 3 million signatures if Pushing Daisies continues to bring in around 6 - 4 million viewers it will be canceled either way.

It would be nice if networks would inform shows, like Daisies, that are in trouble that they will be getting canceled so they get a properly written send-off. At least FOX did that with King of the Hill, so fans get a real finale.

What a pity - hopefully it won't be cancelled and if it is please finish the series up so we are not left with "what if" as we usually are when they cancel great shows.

if they do cancel it, they better give it a proper sendoff...like pick up the back 9 and cancel it but send it off right...this show is awesome...

23903 signaturesI love this show. I can't say it enough. I was/am a huge fan of Dead Like Me also. I said from ep 1 that I would not allow myself to get to attached to PD because it was too good for network tv and they'd not know what to do with it. What sux is that the cost per ep is so high that no other network will touch it... The idea that another Bryan Fuller project will be killed prematurely reeks of irony. Its getting a wee bit close to the Nov. 12 kill date for my liking. I hope it doesn't get canceled. I suggest that Mr. Fuller's his next project be in a different realm... :-)At least American Dad got picked up for a fifth season...moreless

UGH! WHY? This is seriously one of the most creative and interesting shows out there. I signed the petition as soon as I saw. I don't know what else to do, but I really want to figure out something. I seriously can not stand to have another show not even have a fair chance before it gets the axe.

Why are so many Tv.com comments so negative? Everyone always thinks everything is going to get canceled! That lack of support might be why so many things flounder.

I use to love this show but I quickly lost interest. Chi McBride is brillant so hopefully he bounces back not matter what happens. Sad to hear this news Pushing Daisies fans, I deeply am. I signed your petition though in support of you guys...good luck getting a full season!

Why do all the best shows wind up cancelled?! I'm starting to run out of shows. Pushing Daisies is the most cleaver, original, fantastic show in a really long time. Time to channel all that good energy into Pushing Daisies staying power.
