During a recent TV.com happy hour staff meeting, we landed on the topic of TV commercials. And, more specifically, some of the (in)famous voices behind them. Like that guy whose full-time job must be narrating movie trailers, or that guy with the annoying Australian accent who does the Outback Steakhouse commercials, or that guy with the cheeky Australian accent who voices the Geico gecko. And then there are the famous people. Did you know that John Corbett (Sex and the City) is one of the many Applebee's voices? Or that Richard Dreyfuss did Honda commercials not too long ago? There are a ton of celebrity voices in the ad-sphere, and some of them are harder to guess than you might think. The mark of a good "guess the celebrity voiceover" quiz is that when you find out who it is you say, "Oh, wow, I didn't realize that was him (or her." It SHOULD NEVER BE, "Who?" This quiz had some obscure people. Amy Sedaris? You're kidding. And they shouldn't include an actor disguising their voice, unless it's it's something they've done on their show or in their movie. I got 11 of 15, but they only gave me 10 cause I misspelled Allison Janney. Only used one "n" in janey with 2 "l"s in Allison. Good quiz though. One of my favorites that no one else used to notice is Stanley Tucci for AT&T.

3/15---so many I could tell I recognized the voice and should know it, but couldn't come up with it! For some others, I never would have guessed...mostly b/c I don't know those actors so well. I'll have to keep an ear out for those commercials now!

I got eight out of fifteen. I have no idea who one of the women is, and the same with three of the men. I missed Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey. The rest I didn't get it until I read the answers after and I put faces to names.
That was great! Thanks for the quiz. I only got 6. I should have known George Clooney. Grr.

Got 3 out of 15 right. Michael C Hall sounds exactly like Dexter's usual naration only about selling cars. I don't know if it creeps me out that he sounds the same talking about a car as about killing people...
