Not content having one video for their first single, the Raconteurs have filmed a second, and this one features none other than Paul Reubens of Pee Wee Herman fame.
The side project of White Stripes guitarist Jack White, set to hit the road next month for a US tour, teamed up with Reubens for the second video for "Steady As She Goes," the first single off the band's debut album, Broken Boy Soldiers.
The second video offers a stark contrast to the first, a home video-style art clip directed by acclaimed director Jim Jarmusch. The new video features White and bandmates Brendan Benson and Patrick Keeler competing in an old-fashioned soapbox car race, with Reubens as a devious pit boss stooping to low levels to ensure a win for his racer, played by Raconteurs bassist Jack Lawrence. The new video will premiere on Yahoo! Music Monday.
Reubens is best known as the creator and host of Pee Wee's Playhouse, which aired Saturday mornings on CBS from 1986 to 1991. Soon after the show was canceled, Reubens was arrested for allegedly masturbating in an adult movie theater. He was later arrested on child pornography charges, but those charges were dropped after he pleaded guilty to a separate "misdemeanor obscenity" charge.
Reubens has appeared in numerous films and TV shows since then, including Batman Returns and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Reruns of Pee Wee's Playhouse are set to return to TV on the Cartoon Network in July.
