Amy Poehler left Saturday Night Live with a bang--or maybe more of a "pop." After giving birth to a son (with hubby Will Arnett), Poehler called it quits on SNL and was rumored to headline a spin-off of The Office. The spin-off has since been pronounced dead, but Poehler will have her own show (from Office producers Greg Daniels and Mike Schur), and those previously rumored to be in the spin-off are sticking around.
>Actress Rashida Jones (last seen rolling around on a bed with Natalie Portman and kittens and puppies) has been added to the cast, according to E! Online, making the sitcom's future look bright even though details haven't been revealed. Jones previously appeared on The Office as a love interest for Jim, but on the new show she'll be playing a nurse, and not The Office's Karen as once speculated.
Also joining the cast is Aziz Ansari, who was likewise previously attached to The Office spin-off. Ansari is one of the cast members of MTV's Human Giant, and also guest-starred as the racist fruit vendor in HBO'sFlight of the Conchords and the morgue worker who was grossed out by dead people in Worst Week.
The show and its dynamite cast will allegedly debut in April. Are you stoked?

I'm glad this won't be a spinoff after all. Having the same creative team work on the show is one thing, but to have it tie directly into a successful show would just make this another "Rhoda"....or "The Torellis" (shudder...)
Spin-offs do go either way, but if they can find a way to shake things up and find their MO, I'll see it.
Spin-offs are the worst.
I'm so glad the spin-off is dead. I did not like Karen near enough to want to watch a spin-off with her, but a different sitcom will hopefully be different!
Like Ms. Jones, LOVE Ms. Poehler...I'll be there with remote in hand come showtime.
I like Rashida. So I'll watch the first ep and then decide.
A decent sitcom would be great. The new ones this season have been such a disappointment.
This will fail. NBC need a new HIT sitcom.
Why do I have the feeling that this is some kind of mind trick. I think that this show actually is an Office spin-off, they just want to us not think so so that when the setup for the spin-off occurs on the main show, we'll all be 'surprised'.
Love Rashida Jones!
Man, what's with all the Poehler-haters? Be happy she has a post-SNL career (or that she's off SNL, for that matter).
With Rashida Jones, I don't see why they couldn't continue with it being an Office spin off.
No, it's a terrible terrible thing huntercal. I don't know what mankind did to deserve Amy Poehler. But Rashida Jones is kind of funny so this is a good sign.
well in a way I am glad there is no office spin off, but more of Amy Poehler on TV can only be a good thing, right?
