Ratings: Betty bigger, Smallville steps up

Ugly Betty enjoyed a post-Golden Globe winning ratings boost, taking a 4.5 rating/12 share in adults 18 to 49 at 8 p.m., and 14.1 million viewers overall, according to Nielsen. The numbers were good enough to fend off NBC's comedy block of My Name Is Earl and The Office.

Smallville boosted to a season-high 2.3 rating/6 share in 18- to 49-year-olds, with 5.2 million viewers. The episode featured fellow DC Comics heroes Aquaman, Green Arrow, and Cyborg.

At 8 p.m., ABC scored its 4.5 for Betty, with NBC earning a combined 4.4 average for My Name Is Earl and The Office. CBS took a 3.4 for a CSI repeat, while CW nabbed a 2.3 for its man-filled Smallville. Fox scored a combined 2.0 for 'Til Death and The War at Home.

At 9 p.m., ABC rose to an 8.7 for Grey's Anatomy, the top-rated show of the night. CBS scored a 6.9 for CSI and NBC earned a combined 2.7 for Scrubs and 30 Rock. Fox scored a 1.8 for The O.C., and CW took a 1.5 for Supernatural.

At 10 p.m., CBS earned a 4.4 rating for Shark. ABC took a 3.7 for Men in Trees, and NBC scored a 2.5 with an ER repeat.

Overall, ABC earned a 5.6 rating/14 share in 18- to 49-year-olds, with 15.6 million total average viewers; CBS, 4.9/12, 16.2 million; NBC, 3.2/8, 7.2 million; CW, 1.9/5, 4.3 million; Fox, 1.8/5, 4.3 million.
