ABC better come up with another Grey's Anatomy, stat!
The network had stellar results last season when it paired Desperate Housewives and the medical drama on Sunday nights. Now, with Grey's duking it out on Thursdays against CSI, Desperate must nurture newbie Brothers and Sisters, which is no easy task.
Desperate has slipped from its season premiere, from a 9.5 rating to an 8.0. Brothers scored a 4.9/12 in 18 to 49, 12 million viewers overall, down more than 20 percent from its series premiere three weeks ago.
Brothers was pegged as a troubled show in preseason buzz, with cast shuffles and reported on-set problems. Despite the stumble, ABC still handily won the night with the combo of Extreme Makeover, Desperate, and Brothers.
NFL overrun kept CBS's shows starting a half-hour late.
According to Nielsen overnights, 8 p.m. saw ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition fix up a 5.5/13 in 18 to 49-year-olds, 14.3 million viewers overall. CBS followed with the second half of 60 Minutes at 4.5 rating/13 with 16.8 million viewers and Amazing Race with a 3.8/9 and 11.8 million viewers. NBC showed up with Sunday Night Football and sacked a 3.8/9 with 11 million viewers. Fox batted a 2.2/5 with 6.2 million viewers for baseball, and The CW's 7th Heaven blessed a 1.1/3, 3.1 million viewers.
At 9 p.m., Housewives snagged an 8.0/18, 20 million viewers overall, while NBC tackled a 4.4/10, 12.5 million viewers with SNF, CBS's Amazing Race took a 3.8/9 and 11.8 million viewers and Cold Case scored a 4.0/9 and 14.0 million viewers. Fox and baseball scored a 2.6/6 with 8.5 million viewers, and The CW's Runaway clocked in at a 0.7/2, 1.8 million viewers.
At 10 p.m., Sisters led the pack with a 4.9/12 and 12 million viewers, CBS's Case scored a 4.0/9 and 14.0 million viewers, and Without a Trace scored a 4.4/11 with 14.5 million viewers overall, NBC's football snared a 3.4/8 and 11 million viewers, and Fox's baseball earned a 2.5/5 with 6.1 million viewers.
ABC averaged a 5.4/13 in 18 to 49s, with 14 million viewers; CBS scored a 4.2/11, 14.5 million; NBC earned a 3.8/10, 9.4 million; Fox nabbed a 2.1/5, 7.4 million; and The CW received a 0.9/2, 2.3 million.
On Friday, NBC scored a hit with the premiere of 1 vs. 100, the new game show hosted by Bob Saget. 1 averaged a 4.1 rating/13 share in adults 18 to 49 and 12.6 million viewers overall, making it NBC's highest-rated Friday 9 p.m. slot since December 2002.

If you're not watching Without a Trace you don't know what you're missing out on! It's the best show out there!
ABC has two great shows on Sunday nights and they are "Desperate Housewifes & Brothers & Sisters", Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is boring and repetative.
NBC Friday nights was great though it says on my TV menute that Los Vegas is coming Friday nights which means "Deal Or No Deal" gets taking off. (Thanks a lot NBC for again ruining your Friday nights)
7th Heaven should have stayed at ending with the WB cancelling it because now its suffering in last place with only 3.1 million viewers.
Thank God Lost and Grey's Anatomy can save ABC
Ugh ABC picked up Brothers and Sisters for a full season. Seems to me the only reason they did this is because they had nothing else to replace it with.ABC might be doing "well" but some of their shows follow the same formula. What happens when people get tired of that formula?
1 vs. 100 -- I had high hopes, but the questions are easy ... they're Jessica Simpson easy.
The Saget has failed me.
Ken Jennings looks embarrassed to be there.
Numbers may be in trouble, but that's no surprise, Numbers doesn't seem as interesting as it used to. Maybe this will hope NBC out in the ratings besides Heroes.
I'm not really all that shocked over this news. Brothers and Sisters is no Grey's Anatomy, not even close. I've been watching but only because it follows Desperate Housewives. Fortunately DH has seemed to get its act together after a poor season compared to season one. ABC needs to find a show that can keep up with DH or it may hurt it in the long run.
People need to wacth Runaway at 9 the best new show out there.
I love love love Brothers & Sisters. I really hope the ratings stay decent. The episodes have been getting better each week. I absolutely love Sally Field as Nora. Next week looks awesome with Treat Williams guest starring.
